Went through the conversation about the defense bill - are all of you guys planning on staying in to retirement? Does the 23 years change your decisions about it? I know it's only 3 years, but I have seen people get out at 17 years... thinking to myself "Why?! You only have 3 years left!"

Yep me too, I will be 46, with 26 years in though.

I think people are worried because they feel as if they are getting forced into more time when the reality is they will probably stay in any ways.

I agree with you there. Even after 23 years I will only be 41. With retired officer pay I could actually retire, unlike Master Chief pay and have to get a second job to live comfortably.

Does anyone know when the actual cut-off time is for when the selection results are official vs. the signing of the NDAA? I know the NDAA is official once the President signs it. When are selection results official? When the boards convened? When the last Adm signs it? When it is released to Bupers? When NAVADMIN releases it?

NAVADMIN 313/09 is Personal For Message as per NPC. So is 314/09 going to be the motorcycle safety message?

You guys are all saying 23 years, but from what Ive been watching since last month... like 95% of you here have like 2 million college credits, so it wont take you three years to graduate... Its required to be no more than 3, but there are a large number of applicants who can graduate in 2 years or so.. so you get to keep a year of your life..

So I actually read through the message on my M3 and it is "personal for Commanders, Commanding Officers, and Officers in Charge"... that's why it's not showing up.
