FY10 STA-21 Applicants gather round!

It sounds like quite a few people had something to fix in their package. Is there anyone out there that never saw any notes on the bottom of the page? I looked all the time, but never saw anything.

I ran my package from start to finish. I made sure everything was by the instruction, including all the interviews after they were completed. I had to get a couple of them to sign , put their job titles and designators on thier. Nothing had enclosure's. If anybody else but me was running my package, it would have been all jacked up. My (new) command was clueless. I'm lucky it was my 3rd time applying and not my 1st time.

This year I didn't have anything other than "ASTB scores missing" I emailed Mr. Straten and he said it was just a mistake, they were there.

Last year I also asked him about the enclosures being marked and he said it's not an issue. I did not have access to a type writer in Iraq so it would have been a PITA. He said the package will be ripped apart at the board anyways.

Like you, I keep my hand on the package and walk it through the process from start to finish. I constantly read the instruction and went through the checklist to ensure it was right.

That would be my biggest piece of advice to anyone planning to apply. Take it upon yourself, it is your package and your career.

I had notes that showed up on the bottom of the page that said something like no documentation for for AW qual. I emailed a copy of my designation letter for my EAWS from my ESR to Mr. Straten, and he took care of it. The notes were removed shortly there after. I hope this helps.

Yes, walking your package through everywhere yourself is great.

However, at my command for example we had 53 applicants. The CCC handled everything as having 53 idiots walking around with their package wouldn't work. We were not allowed to ever see the parts of our package that we didn't supply ourselves. I got lucky I was able to see my package before the board convened (second week of July). It's a good thing too because they had the wrong SSN on every page that required it. They also had no Job Title on any interview appraisals.

I brought both of these things up and they fixed the SSN and said don't worry about the Job Title, no one had it last year or this year and we're not fixing it.

Wow! 53 applicants from one command! I was the only applicant from my command, but that is probably because I am at a training command. I was directly involved in every aspect for my package. I had to bug all of our officers to actually follow the instruction. I made sure I provided the correct forms for the interview, and they gave me back the wrong form. Their response was this is the form we used for LDO/CWO packages. I had to have all of the interview forms rewritten on the correct forms with job title/designator that they forgot, even though it was provided for them on the correct form. They all deleted it! I guess I'm lucky I got to go through my entire package with a fine tooth comb before it was submitted.

The PFA thing, yeah, that's on you. Anything regarding your interviews, there's not much you can do other than be VERY specific on how they're supposed to be setup. Last year my command wouldn't even release the interview sheets to me AFTER results came out, and it doesn't look like this command is going to either.

Actually, the PFA thing was not on me. I had submitted the RAW scores, but they threw them out and resubmitted the single page for my PFA results. Consequently the wrong stuff was sent. So when I say that "MY COMMAND" sent the wrong paperwork I mean what I say. Had I said that "I" sent the wrong paperwork then it probably would have fallen on my shoulders.

Well, I know the results arent out yet, but I want to wish everyone luck. I was an alternate last year and found out right before christmas I was going to NSI with the May group. There we quite about 20 alternates in the group. Best of luck and even if you are an alternate get your paperwork in asap. I am waiting for the results myself to see if a friend got picked up. On the walking your package through, I agree that is the best bet, but there are commands that refuse to allow their members to see the package after they interview. I was lucky and was very involved in mine, but I know several people from other commands who were not allowed that chance and were scolded when they tried. Hopefully the board is aware that some of that is out of your control.
