This is my husband's 2nd time applying. Alternate last year. They changed the options from SPEC OP to EOD this year, but it is really the same thing, different name.

How old is everyone? My husband is 28, so no CORE option. He probably won't apply again if this year tanks. EOD's bonus is still pretty high and he was eligible to reenlist the first of last month, except he couldn't since STA-21 was/is pending. He plans to get a few years of the next SRB and then go LDo if STA-21 isn't in our cards.

Just curious what everyone else's Plan B is?

I am 26 and applied only for Intel, no core. I have orders to be part of the start up team for a new command near my hometown getting a third NEC enroute. So either way i'm happy with whatever the outcome is. At this point I really just want a decision, a definative "accepted" or "declined" so I can go about my life/career and stop living in this holding pattern.

Good luck to your husband!

If I do not get selected for STA-21 I plan on reenlisting and heading to San Diego for Strike Group One. I'm one of the weird ones that love being on a ship. :) First time as staff, though. Might be interesting.

edit: I'm 25 and also applied for just Intel

Nice. What is your rate? I'm one of those secret squirrel guys lol. I've only been ship's company and at a non-deploying squadron but i've heard that staff is MUCH better.

I'm a freshly converted AWR2. Iwas an AE2 prior. You have to put in the special programs package to convert. That's what I did. I just got my AC wings a few weeks ago. I applied to the NFO option but, I love my job now. I fly in an MH-60R and operate a lot of tactical sensors. If you have any questions about converting I will be glad to help you.

If I dont get picked up for SWO/ED then I'm going to go to Ship's Supt where I'm stationed at now so I can build on my Chief package and apply for LDO next year. I wouldnt mind being a Surface Engineer the rest of my life. But I hate being stuck in this dead end MR rate, I made 1st class in 5 years and they advanced 0, ZERO, BIG-FAT-GOOSE-EGG, Chiefs this time around. I just want an answer I dont care if I got picked up or not this is just holding up a lot of stuff right now for me. Hopefully I get it, good luck to everyone!!!

Well im 26, applying for the IWO program only (too old for core), as I stated earlier this is my 5th time around. If im not selected I just got orders to the Iwo Jima as the LPO. I will continue to apply for the STA-21 program and next year I am going to submit a package for LDO as well.
