Across the street from the Rec Center there is the MWR computer lab with probably around 15 or 20 computers plus a Starbucks. Can't beat that! Not to mention both of these locations have wireless internet so if you are bringing a laptop you can use your own. Just sit in the corner with your back against the wall and let your significant other put on a show for you. Ha! There are also a few computer labs in King Hall. Each lab has maybe 8 computers that work and the printers are always out of paper.

I was in the last NSI for the FY09 and we were able to use the E-Club for the first half of NSI and then they decided that from now on, all OC's should only be allowed in the O-Club. There were a lot of mixed feelings about this because we weren't enlisted anymore but not officers yet either. Hmmm?? Not sure what they will do this year.

But, he told me I need to call my school, SUNY Maritime, and ask. The PSD rep that they work through said I cannot check into the school prior to NSI. However, I will be moving my wife from Italy to NYC when I transfer in April. I just won't check into the school--We'll secure a place to live and take leave. The Navy will pay BAH for dependant location. I just don't know yet who will grant TLE and househunting leave in this particular scenario. We need some PSD ninjas on here.

Plans are changing. It looks like the Navy will not pay TLE while on a leave status and that's way too much money to spend out of pocket in NYC. So, now I'm sending my wife to her parent's a few weeks before I transfer--to start BAH there, at least. We'll just go up to the school after NSI, check in, collect TLE & house hunt.

I wish the Navy had a way of paying us to get a place first.

Yes, I sent Mike an email today and he said that it should take around 10 business days for the orders to show up on BOL!

Does any one know if we can use the GI Bill to supplement costs? I'd rather not have to pay flight fees out of pocket...

Yes you can, it has to be the post 9/11 gi bill to flip 100 percent of the bill and the flight training has to be part of a degree program.

corbin?! hey this is hodge from 138. i showed up when you were in the process of getting approved for sta 21 and leaving. anyway do you have any advice for a fellow 138 guy i can give you the rundown in what i got so far if you need it... however i plan to submit my package in the upcoming months..​

Just finished the first week of NSI. So far it's a lot easier than expected. All we are required to memorize right now are the General Orders. Recommend the May class log into NKO and complete the requried courses for NSI for this fiscal year. (Browse Categories, DON, OTC, NSI) If you completed any of the courses before Oct 09 you will be required to do it again. Some things to bring that are not on the website: Laundry Detergent, Mop and Glo, Starch, Raincoat, Black Leathers OR Chlorofram's (sp), Navy PT gear including Smurfs (bring as many pairs as you have because this is what we are wearing for the first two weeks and they get dirty quick) Watch Cap, SHOWER SHOES, shirt stays if you prefer them, hangars, black AND WHITE shoe polish. If you dont have the official uniform items listed above they will be issued to you and it will be deducted from your clothing allowance....so the more you bring the more you save.

I was wondering if anyone else was having a hard time finishing up their degree plans. I have two schools that seem to be dragging their feet. It is seriously killing me!
