Hey guys my recruiter was talking about something called "early select" where some people get selected before the board actually convenes. Not that it matters at all, but can someone explain this? Do they do it every board? Just curious.

In years past NRC ran an "auto-select" rolling board for individuals who scored a (I think) 55/7/7/7 or better on the ASTB, had no waivers required, and were able to ship to OCS in under 60 days. When enough applicants were queued they would convene the board and send out ProRecs. As far as I've seen, if the auto select board exists it will be listed on the board date PDF I posted on the first page of this topic, and currently nothing of the sort is listed. Hope that helps, bud.

Anyone who knows more than me, feel free to chime in.

The auto select board exists, it's on page 2 of the document called "AVIATION IMMEDIATE SELECT PROBOARD".

According to my OR, it is rolling and happens throughout the year, but is more prevalent later in the year. They have a certain amount of slots for immediate select candidates and if they have an excess, they will usually open it up towards the end of the FY to fill out the remaining slots as they don't roll over to the next FY.

Still waiting on MEPS. Have probably watched every YouTube video with the words "Navy OCS" in it in existence

Found anything worth watching besides "Faces of OCS" (official OTC produced video
)? I usually just end up moving on after not finding anything new and start watching videos of cat-shots and pitching deck H-60 landings haha.

Has anyone started writing their motivational statement yet? I took a first pass at mine last night and ended up around 1000 words. Many on here have said to write less, but my OR said to at least fill 3/4 of the space on the APSR.

Dang, mine was like 500 words... my OR is looking at it now. I'll let you know his feedback!

Not trying to set myself for disappointment, but I listen to the General orders and Codes of conduct, and study ranks. From my time there I recall it being incredibly stressful to study and focus. The more you know before, the better. Oh and getting rolled for fitness is probably something that can be avoided...

I’m not sure what YouTube video or discussion thread I was following but they mentioned to study Appendix B. I went to basic training in 2011 and I am definitely going to need a refresher on my general orders lol Heres the link!

?

There was a point in 2010 where I could have probably spouted off the General Orders and my CoC in my sleep... needless to say, that point has passed. I need to get back to reciting them...
