OK I'm back, just been reading and rereading this entire thread.
I find it interesting, that this group of mostly veterans, many with solid real experience and understanding of leadership and commitment, are all over the board with "facts" and "opinions."
Maybe I had a mental "WTF" earlier than others, but in my opinion, we were rapidly devolving from "fact based opinion" to "emotion based opinion." And that is where I shut down, chocked and chained to the deck, and went to the wardroom for some really bad coffee.
After a few good nights sleep, and I'm ready to venture into the wild blue, armed with my well worn NATOPs and copy of the Constitution.

I care…but what has he done that some advisor to any POTUS hasn’t? You are upset about Trump’s agenda…fine…I am simply arguing that Trump = Biden = Any POTUS and they get to enact their agenda.
I’m not with you there, man. I think it’s been going too far for the past several administrations, but I have never seen a billionaire in the Oval Office, speaking for the President of the United States while the President… just sits there?
Yep, Biden is basically a vegetable. The Afghan “withdrawal” was horseshit. Student loan buyouts and DEI initiatives were flawed and overreaching. But replacing all that with this is supposed to be…better? You guys who voted for Trump be honest: did you plan on getting President Musk? Is it worth it to you to burn down everything and let the billionaires openly have their way with government? Or did you just feel (as I did) like you had no good choices left?

He's an employee of the Federal Government, as mandated by POTUS. He's been given a security clearance, and access to Federal Agencies to basically perform a ZBB. He's not violating law, he's not the one firing people, he's not controlling/redirecting funds, he's just illuminating, with a really bright halogen spotlight, where all the money is going. What is wrong with that?
I'm still laughing about all the people who think Elon is the Devil incarnate when two astronauts will be coming home because of his technology. I genuinely think he's the modern day Albert Einstein. Operation Mockingbird runs deep with this crowd . . . .

Turns out Boeing would have brought them home safely months ago. Not that it wasn't the right decision not to, but in the end, their spacecraft made it home too.
As for musk, I view him as a visionary in some areas of science and technology. He has an "engineering technology" degree level of understanding of the hard science and math. Which is to say that he can speak sort of intelligently about it, but he doesn't know how to make the stuff. I don't have anything against him personally, though I have a lot against the tech bros taking over this country. They already have ruined just about everything they touch, to include the city of Seattle amongst many others. It'll be over my dead body if they do it to this country. Their agenda benefits none of the rest of us, trust me on that.
They- Musk included- are doing it to this country, whether you like it or not, dead or alive.
Musk is not a visionary. He is a spoiled rich kid who was 10 steps ahead of us all in life. If it wasn’t him, it would be one of ten thousand spoiled rich kids in silicon valley just like him- all thinking they’re God’s gift to creation. I say that as one who has been a longtime enabler. Only now do I finally see what I was enabling. I never said i was a fast learner.

Boeing's spacecraft would have been able to, but it would have been a roll of the dice regarding the lives of the astronauts.
Musk does have a hard science understanding. He graduated with a degree in physics remember (and economics). It was he himself who figured out how to make a viable reusable rocket concept. I agree on the tech bros though, they are terrible.
Musk is most definitely a visionary. But being highly intelligent in certain areas != intelligence in other areas.
