What is fake about it? It's a public square and a very influential one. And while people do not have a right to speech on it, entities like that should adhere to the spirit of free speech IMO, and in particular when they reach the point of becoming a sort of utility. As for Musk, I do not see how he ruined it. It still retains the same basic functionality it always has.

But you sure seem worked up over something you claim is a fake place populated by morons.

I am not worked up at all. Quoting and re-quoting internet nobody's is not real thought. It's fake, just like the rest of social media. Didn't mean to make this personal, didn't realize that you felt passionately about it. You could very well be right that Musk didn't ruin it. I don't really care. It makes no difference in my life.

Edit: I am to some extent, "worked up" about social media in general. I'm of the opinion that it is ruining our society. That isn't specific to twitter, but I do think it is the absolute dumbest and most useless of them all.

Lol dude Twitter has never been influential. It has only gained prominence because journalists rely on and use it heavily, which has long given everyone a distorted view of how prominent or important it is as a social platform. And then journalists whined about it because Musk bought and gummed it up. The notion of it as a town square has always been farcical and perpetuated by terminally online people, including everyone's favorite South African.

I vote “aye”, and ignored that random guy a long time ago when I recognized a failure to show humility. Looks like I was correct, since learning still has not occurred.

Oh, and Musk is objectively responsible for what happened at Twitter. He bought it, unilaterally changed policies, fired staff with his infamous “fork in the road” email (now duplicated in our national government by the same egotistical asshole), bullied and sued advertisers, and turned Twitter into a megaphone just for him. Oh, and changed the name. Anyone arguing this isn’t Musk’s fault is part of the problem.

I should have mentioned sooner what is happening now is unconstitutional, which still matters to some of us.
