Born at NS Norfolk, Dad 30+yrs in Navy, grew up around Air Stations my whole life, getting excited when someone asks what you do for a living. Oh, and chicks dig guys in uniform no matter how ugly you might be. BOOM-SCHAKA-LAKA!

Grandfather was an Army Air Corp pilot then an Eastern Airlines pilot (DC-3 to A300 with all the great stuff in between). My Dad has always been an aviation guy (and private pilot for a bit) and I grew up flying models of all sorts with him. My vision in the pre-laser days was sending me "navigator" and the USAF offered AWACS and tankers, Navy offered anything. Flight of the Intruder (the book, not the lame ass movie Final Countdown was the lame ass movie of my generation) had just come out and I just knew my future led to the right seat of an Intruder. All went well until winging. Number one guy got Intruders East, the rest of us (11) got Prowlers. Last class of the fiscal year and a Corry class to fill. Actually worked out better I believe. Often wonder what would have happened with modern medicine and I had the chance to have been single anchor but NFO was "berry berry good to me"

Dad was a P3 NFO, mom was an aviation maintenance officer, uncle was a P3 pilot, neighbor was a P3 pilot, tours of the flightline, squadron, tiger cruises, etc... was interested. but i really didnt decide until after applying to schools to be an architect and getting accepted to school and finding out you needed to have an art portfolio(who knew?),so... same day signed up CP for NROTC, havent looked back since. cant complain about wearing pajamas to work everyday

I read a lot of military history and wanted to fly Hellcats in WW2 ... I guess I missed that one.

I'm gonna call BS on this one, we all know the judge said, "Either join the navy or go to jail." :icon_tong

I was raised in Oshkosh, WI right under the traffic pattern. My dad worked for a company converting Radial DC-3's into turboprop DC-3's, and my brother was an ECMO.

Sort of related....I was living in Bozeman Montana for two months before I moved back to CO and enlisted in the Navy. Anyway, the guy across the street from me in BOzeman was a cranky old cuss, but always helped me work on my Jeep. Turns out he was a mech for the Flying Tigers. Good guy, lived onhis own and no family around him. Had I known then.....I would have pestered him forever; he was a walking bit of history.

Combating TIP training AGAIN?!
Back onto the subject of fornication in millitary aircraft. I think that as far as tactical jets go, I think the backseat of a Prowler would be ideal. Brett, any stories?:)
