@BlkPny:

Agreed, all good points. Despite being pretty new to the boards (at least registering), hopefully you realize that most of the back and forth between the pointy nose crowd and us helo dudes is just in good fun and is pretty regular between the same people. If your "sniveling" comment was referring to something else in this thread, then disregard this post.
The sniveling comes from the people who think they know exactly what they want, and will be crushed if they don't get it. They should keep an open mind, and pick the brains of their IPs as they go thru API and Primary. They most likely will change their minds several times, based on good info and not on some movie.
I understand the good-natured back and forth between communities, and I have to admit that I'm actually rather accomplished at it myself. All the wannabees should just keep an open mind, and take advantage of the IP's experiences. When I went thru, the Marines all wanted helos, and the top Navy guy took P-3's. Proof positive that God has a sense of humor.

Good advice, but there is also the problem that in Primary, the only platforms you're really exposed to are helos and P-3s (Navy side at least). There is barely, if any, representation from tacair or E2/C2. From my Primary experience, helo and P-3 guys are the LAST guys to ever talk to about the tacair community. That of course where some initiative comes in... call a squadron, talk to some JO pilots.

yeah, P-3 guys don't like jet guys

for example, at Halloween party up here on the island last saturday, a bunch of P-3'ers (yes, its a word) would not come because, and I quote "a bunch of jet f@gs there"

I didn't believe until I heard it myself.

It's less so the past few years, but the O Club is still pretty much segregated for happy hour at NASWI. You "colored" folks just stay over on your own side and don't cause any trouble ;) There was a legendary brawl in there between the Jet and P-3 guys when they first showed up from Moffett which resulted in a skipper being relieved.

BTW, the only reason we hate the P-3s is because they constantly knock the short field gear out of battery (usually when you're running behind). Oh yeah, they can't talk on the radios either. :D

and the plot thickens

I actually heard of a fight very recently between a P-3'er and a Prowlerite, but can't remember any details

Me, I'd go to the party and complain about the sheer number of jet f@gs in the room! ;)

Hey that sh!t happens in the Navy too. I have a buddy who's a VT instructor that got voluntold to do a 6 month stint in Iraq during his shore duty, no less. There's a war on, folks.

Brett
SWO's are getting picked up left and right for IA's over there in Kuwait and Iraq. These are guys getting to their shore tours and then a few months later get the knock on the door. "Honey, I'm home....oh wait, just kidding."

Same here. Guys are settling in to their new homes so they can pack and leave again.

Not much different in the gun club. I know a guy that spent 4 years in a 53 squadron and between OIF, OEF, HOA, and MEUS he spent a sum total of 9 months at home. Needless to say, his papers have already been dropped.

I forgot to add something during the pointy-nose f@g/helo bubba stud argument. How many jet guys can say they had the privelege of flying the St. Louis Cardinals cheerleaders around the AO? I can, and I've got the pictures to prove it. Man did they smell GOOD! I win :D

Since you're going there, I'm pretty sure the Blues get to haul around more hot media and Hollywood tail (I mean, Gretta Van Sustern? Come on!;) ) then all the other services and platforms combined. I'm pretty sure they fly jets.:D
