For those of you that haven't been keeping watch (I know you're out there), Hurricane Dennis has a probability of hitting Pensacola. They are currently expecting it to come ashore as a Category III... the same that Hurricane Ivan came ashore as. Keep your heads down and evacuate if and when the order is given. It is NOT WORTH STAYING to ride it out. Trust me. Some of my friends did it with Ivan. They all agreed it was the single stupidest and scariest thing they have done in their lives.
Edited to add: AS OF 7 JULY, 2300 EDT HURRICANE DENNIS HAS BEEN UPGRADED TO A CATEGORY IV. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS HURRICANE. CATEGORY IV HURRICANES ARE CAPABLE OF 114-135 KTS WINDS.
If you're dumb enough to ride this out when it hits, make sure you have enough water, food, batteries, a generator is nice, fuel for your vehicle, and if you're prudent, ammo. Widespread destruction after a hurricane has been known to create severe problems with looting... ask the people that survived Hurricane Andrew...
Many of you are from western and northern parts of the country and have never seen destruction like a Cat III or IV hurricane can dish out. Take it seriously.
