Yeah, I'm curious as well. I need to set up my house hold goods. :)

Haven't heard anything from my real estate agent yet, but if I do, I'll pass along any info.

Meridian is fine. Our power went out for a good 10 minutes. Some wind... We were expecting more fun for a hurricane party...

On the other side of the coin, I'm glad it wasn't very bad to the P'cola region like Ivan.

You guys lost power?? Wow. Ours flickered some but never went off. Ah, well, I suppose my hopes of a four day weekend are dashed. :D Nose back in NATOPS . . .

Best of luck to everybody cleaning up in P-cola. Everyone's crowing about how they dodged a big one, but it still can't be all roses and rainbows. Looks like Whiting got nailed head-on though. Any news?

Still have heard nothing about NASWF. NASP and TW-6 folks started heading back today...I think they have a FOD walkdown on wednesday, but NASP was on the west side of the hurricane and recieved very little damage.

Well, I'm back, safe-on-deck. Took the T-45 on a little cross-country masqueraded as a hurr-evac. Glad to see that Meridian dodged a bullet, and that most of Pensacola is in ok shape. Still waiting on reports coming out of there.

Myself and some cohorts drove back to Milton (via 331, then 29 then 87... hooray for southern Alabama). Starting just south of Andalusia the damage started getting pretty bad, with various trees and power poles down. Upon arrival in Milton, power was out almost everywhere, with the exception being some intersections' traffic lights that were powered by generators. Downed trees and lines abounded along Avalon Road, which was pretty much the path of the eye of the storm. Damage in the surrounding areas (Pensacola, Pace, Mobile, etc.) was limited to downed trees. The US-90 bridge is open across all four lanes. I didn't even try the I-10 bridge. Power is spotty in Pace and Pensacola, with some places having it, and some places just down the street still dark. Everything in Mobile is okay, except places are still out of ice, which I imagine is all going to Milton, etc.

Pags is right about NASP and TW-6 folks... TW-5 folks, who knows. They're still trying to get power back in Milton. No idea about the condition of the base.

I live in Milton where as a prior post said power is spotty in Milton and Pace but I have friends in Pcola all of who have power! I guess they were hit harder with Ivan and Dennis hit Pace and Milton much harder. Just hope Emily goes to another state...Whiting Pines got power today and last we knew NASWF still had no power. Could have changed in the last few hours. Gulf power estimates 95% of their santa rosa county customers will have power restored by EARLY next week...hope much sooner

We made it back to Milton yesterday afternoon after receiving a call from a neighbor that power had been restored :D Ivan did much more widespread damage to Pensacola and the surrounding area but Dennis impacted us locally much more. From what I saw yesterday many more businesses and homes are affected here in Milton and Pace then were with Ivan. I am sure Ivan still caused more financially. Regardless, it stinks! I am so glad to be home and I realize how much I love my little home :icon_mi_1 The yard is a mess. Most of my neighbors are well cleaned up already. I heard from a friend in Whiting pines that it is a mess. I am sure it is bc nobody has been there to clean it up so it's just like it was when it happened. Doesn't seem to be damage just alot of debris. It stinks to see all the "crap" around again. If you saw it after Ivan it was the way of life for a long time...piles and piles of misc stuff on the sides of the roads and clutter. Back to that I am sure for a few more months! I have friends in various locations of town and seems most have power now! Way to go Gulf Power! It is amazing when you hear that Dennis was small and caused less damage than expected and although maybe it truly is, it's still a mess. Mother nature is a beast and definitely something you don't want to mess with or take for granted.
Be safe

Renee
