JAN/FEB/MAR 2014 Rolling SNA and SNFO Boards

Yeah seriously. The next boards aren't supposed to meet until mid April - early May timeframe. No official word yet.

Morning All, I hope I’m not breaching etiquette by just jumping in to this thread, but the link to the forum rules was down, so I couldn’t really verify. Long story short, I am a soldier of 6 years, the last 2 as an Infantry officer who just realized that it would probably be more fun to fly a military aircraft than jump out of it. I submitted my SNA/SNFO packet in the last week of JAN, and was told it would make the FEB board, but after reading through this a little and not really being able to get in contact with my OR lately, I’m not sure the current status. So, between trying to figure out my packet status and learning the ways of the Navy, I’ll probably be popping up with a lot more questions than I’d care to admit. That being said…

This may be a question that’s already been answered a dozen times, but is there a way to know which board you landed, or even if you made the board?

This may be a question that’s already been answered a dozen times, but is there a way to know which board you landed, or even if you made the board?

If you are a current commissioned officer then you need to submit via the OCM for an Inter service transfer, NRC will reject applications of people that are applying for GENOFF positions who are currently commissioned, if you do a search for IST or Inter service transfer you will find info from a few people that are in the process right now.

I was Pro-Rec'd Yes (SNA and NFO) by the late Feb. early March board, notified by my recruiter on 6 March. I went in and signed the necessary paperwork, then was told to hurry up and wait until getting a final select.
I understand that I won't get an official "yes" and/or a Reporting Date until that Final Select letter comes in. However, my recruiter has told me that I was selected for SNA as of 14 March.
I'm turning down graduate school offers because I was told I'll be going to OCS. Still, I have nothing in writing, and only my recruiter's word that I got in at all. My scores are fine (8/8/9, 64, 3.96 GPA) and I don't have any waivers or whatever.

Bottom line: how can my recruiter know I was picked for SNA, and how long might I be in "Final Select Purgatory?"

He would tell you that you were pro rec based on a list of those that were pro Y, your recruiter will not be able to give you anything in writing until a FS letter comes in, that could take a few weeks or many months, it just depends on how many are in front of you and the needs of the USN.

ah, so you went through the OCM that then has an "IST board" for lack of a better word, that is not the same as the OCS board.

Not so much that the Navy wants you, but rather you get PROREC'd Yes and you cannot complete a medical physical or pass a security clearance. There's been some instances that they've been PROREC'd for so long (months) that they reached the max age limit.

a few years ago this happened with several people (not aviation) since it was deemed the fault of NRC due to billet mismanagement everyone was granted a waiver, prior or not, mine graduated OCS many months past age 29

We had 2 similar instances last year and the age waiver was not approved.

that is too bad, I am not sure if this was a factor but in the cases I was mentioning the people had FS letters in hand, had already been sworn in, and they we were told the OCS dates were not available to billet issues.

Both apps on my end were PROREC'd awaiting FINSEL. Looks like 2 different cases here.
