July 2013 and/or Rolling Board

I'd love to know what they were looking for at the SWO board. My OR said that they had a non-select with a 70 OAR and a 4.0 GPA. I'm a big fan of the prior service selections though!

It could have been something in the background, such as drug use or minor criminal history, I have seen a few otherwise outstanding candidates get shot down because of that, or if they were close on HT/WT.

In general, not specific to this board, when we would add up the total number of AD applicants compared to those selected the rate was much lower than those that were not AD, the exception being IDC, IDC tends to have a better rate of AD selectees.

I haven't heard back from my recruiter but I'm assuming by him not calling me yet it's a no. I would love to know what these boards are thinking also. I am prior with a strong packet.

Its kinda weird lol...I think its been mentioned before but can boards see your selections status from other boards? I can't seem to recall a single person picked up for more than one designator unless its pilot/NFO....maybe it makes a difference...

I have been saying for a while now, I think everyone should spend time as an E before becoming an O. I don't think anyone should commission right off the street anymore. We don't live in the same world as we did when the E/O system evolved.

They cannot, they just see the application, they don't have access to the system.

Your profile just about matches mine. Except I don't know how you managed the contrast between ASTBs and GPA in Mechanical Engineering. My GPA at graduation was 3.45. Oh and you got an Astronaut's LOR, that's pretty sweet.

Those are actually my stats you're talking about... And I guess I could say that GPA doesn't always do a great job of defining a person's ability. Lehigh is also pretty rough on the Mech-E's. I've also had some bad luck with the math department... But luckily I don't think I'll need Laplace Transforms to fly a fighter jet.

No worries. They are just slow on the draw for some reason. There is a list floating around somewhere. I don't know who has it but I'm in NRD Philly and I found out I got picked up for SNA... Though my recruiter has yet to call and confirm.

Nothing yet from NRD San Diego. I talked with my OR this morning and he said he hadn't recieved any SWO results yet. I found out yesterday that I was NS for Pilot and NFO. I wasn't too upset about that. I am a boat guy so I am hoping for SWO.
