Yeah sure, technically, you should always report in whites or dress blues. But before you jump to conclusions, like calling him a dirtbag, maybe you should ask him why he's in khakis. He may be in the same situation I was in. I reported in dress blues, on a Wednesday and was told there would be a mass check in on Friday and to come back in khakis. On Friday, half of us were in khakis, half in dress blues.

Flyindevil mentioned that the OIC made an issue of a few people not wearing whites. I find it hard to believe that he was being serious, if it was who I think it was. He likes to give guys a hard time and he's one of these types who you can't always tell if he's bull****ting or not.

I know the LT mentioned one guy's ROTC unit giving him cost TAD orders to go back to the ROTC unit to do IFS, but I wouldn't count on that. If you have a place to stay at your old unit, they probably wouldn't have a problem with giving you no cost TAD orders back there. For those unfamiliar with this, getting no cost TAD orders means that you pay for everything out of pocket and you're reimbursed for nothing.

I actually know the guy who got the no cost TAD orders back to his unit. He worked it well with his CO who happened to know the head honcho of NASC, and got a deal to go back and do IFS back home. He's now in his second week of IFS and since his a FO, he'll back down here in no time with all his prerequisites complete.

When this was mentioned to the A-Pool, couple of people tried to get orders back to their units and they were denied. I do not know the particular reason why they were not given the chance to go back home, but they were pretty p***ed about it.

I guess so, I put the name of the LT in charge of flight management and it got edited. We'll just call him the LT, I'm sure everyone knows who we're talking about.

Are they making everyone do IFS out of Pensacola now? If that's the case, I don't really understand the reasoning behind that, unless the ROTC units are screwing it up too much. I remember hearing about some guy from Tulane who didn't finish IFS, but his report date came up, so he transferred without IFS being done. Last I heard, they were making him go back to finish, but they didn't know if he was going to have to pay out of pocket or try to make his ROTC unit pay, but they were pretty adamant that NASC wasn't going to pay for it.

My unit always required IFS immediately after commissioning, paid for by the Navy. So by the time you got down here, you're IFS complete. Now I think detailers are sending pilots/nfos down here whether they're IFS complete or not.

I just talked to Flight Management concerning the wait time for IFS for SNFOs... "Months" was the reply! I know some people have gone TAD back to their NROTC units and such in order to do IFS - has anyone here done that? If so, how did you go about doing that?

There was one, and it was a special case "drug deal"... kid's unit CO and the NASC CO are old buddies...

Don't count on it happening...

Last I heard up here in Quantico, the wait for API for B Co Lieutenants is March. Sound about right to you guys down in FL?

Some B Co Lts got hooked up and are classing up soon. I think that because they were actually working on projects worthwhile while they've been in the pool. For the most part though, I think March is right on. I was in Alpha Co, and my start date is 16 Dec (as of right now). It's been changing weekly, so we'll see.

*sigh* All these complaints about the wait for API for SNFO's. It could be worse. I showed up in July (IFS complete) but won't really be able to class up until sometime past january. Of course, I had my ACL reconstructed, so that threw everything off.
