Had API orientation this morning. Current wait for classing up....

SNA w/IFS complete: 1-2 months
SNFO w/IFS complete: 2-3 months

Or if youre like me....
SNFO w/o IFS: 3-6 months

Currently, about 400 in A-pool with 100 who reported onboard this week.

Looks like I have a lot of time to work on my swimming and running. Oh yea, and building up my tolerance to hard liqour ;)

Thats USMC right fezz? Dang, there are 100 from Charlie that came down too?

Sorry....not sure about USMC. All the guys who were in my indoc lecture were all Navy. Maybe a devil dog on the forum could chime in on the current wait for the Marines.

For Marines, if you're SNFO, you've got priority. For an SNA w/ IFS complete, expect 2-3 month wait. W/O IFS, expect much longer. I reported 12 Aug and my start date (right now at least) is 10 November.

Fezz,

This "dirtbag," and all the other "dirtbags" I checked in with wore khakis. Unless the rules have changed, there's no problem checking in to API in them. Not saying it is the same for everywhere else, but I just checked into Primary a little bit ago, and it was khakis there too.

Well, when you check in and out of a command, the proper uniform is summer whites (seasonal). I know when I got my orders down here, it specifically said report in whites to NASC NLT than this date..etc. I don't know if someone is going to stop you from checking in khakis but I know that the OIC (LT) at Flight Management will certainly make a point of it...because he did it to couple of people when I was there.

There were some dirt bags showing up in khakis because their unit LT said it would be ok.

You are labeling them (the same JO's you will be in the fleet with) dirtbags because they wore khakis, since their NSI's told them it would be fine?

Dude....chill out. Of course theyre not "complete" dirtbags just bc they checked into API wearing khakis. Im not that uptight about sh-t like that. But isnt there suppose to be some sort of uniformity, especially when you check into a new command? I called NASC a month, then 1 week prior to me reporting and they all said the same thing: WEAR SUMMER WHITES.

Plus, the milkman suit looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than khakis. So says the SNFO :D

I just talked to Flight Management concerning the wait time for IFS for SNFOs... "Months" was the reply! I know some people have gone TAD back to their NROTC units and such in order to do IFS - has anyone here done that? If so, how did you go about doing that?

Yeah, so my buddy sitting next to me right now with 9 years of aircrew service is a dirtbag because his unit told him to report in khakis. I guess the entire group of SNFO's who check into TRAWING 6 every other week are dirtbags too since they always check in in khakis. Fezz, you seem like a good guy, but that was a really stupid comment. Oh yeah, the LT didn't give two $h!ts about his uniform. In fact, the only people who have ever said anything about perceived uniform problems in my experience have been O-1's who wear their flight suits zipped all the way up.

Yeah, Swmtb is right. I heard couple of days ago from someone at muster that he's now scheduled to start IFS....in November! The wait for SNFOs who are not IFS complete is getting ridiculous.

Hook-up your friends back at your schools and call the aviation officer at your old unit and convince them to let Mids selected for Aviation start IFS either just prior to commissioning or right afterwards. An OrdMod is not that difficult that early on if they need to add time between their commissioning date and their report date and that way they can arrive IFS complete.

Fmr1833: True that. No one will remember who wore what when they reported to API. Also, i wasnt the only one bothered by it. Other 0-1s made note of the dudes wearing khakis as well. Neways, enough of that crap. On to other things..... :)

I actually did that yesterday. I called the nrotc XO at my old unit and told him the crappy situation here and the Big Wait for us SNFO w/o IFS. He said he'd look into it but the only time Mids would be able to do IFS is over the summer. But then they have summer cruises, sailing quals, summer session, work, yada yada.

Yea, im also curious about TAD back to my nrotc unit. Anyone have any info on this and the correct channels to make it happen?
