If you can "dress right dress", at ease and attention correctly, you will be OK in aviation.

There may be a "post" and "right/left face" at a winging, but that is about it.

I have not done anything other than "attention" "parade rest" and "at a close interval, dress right dress" since I was commissioned.

WTFO? Only in a phrog squadron. Were you composite for this?
Nope, not composite. And not true... Did you miss the smiley?!? :D

Hah, sounds fun. Thanks phrog! BTW, a few weeks ago I was running the boardwalk at Virginia Beach and was passed by a low-flying phrog. No big deal but it was wicked-cool for a wannabe like me.
My guess is that was from my future squadron... HMM-774 out of Norfolk.

Thanks! One more:

When/will the T-6 hit the fleet? I have searched, maybe I'm typing it wrong. I don't remember where I heard, but the T-6 will take over for the T-34s, correct? Sorry for ignorance I'm sure it has been discussed over and over.

It will come eventually, someone else might have a ballpark timeframe. Yes, it will eventually replace T-34s.

As a follow up I'm really interested to hear how they work out Whiting ops (split rwy ops). I remember hearing rumors about t/o's from N field, landing at S - but that didn't sound very easy with the helos. I also remember talk about issues with rwy lengths at the OLFs not being enough for the T-6, leaving only a few fields usable ... gotta imagine things will be very different when they fully convert.

FACT (thank you, Dwight). I heard this as well. Since the T-6 lacks beta, many of the OLF's aren't long enough, so who knows how long it will be until they come up with a solution, buy the T-6's, create a syllabus, NATOPS qualify IPs, get all the pubs/FTIs and begin training studs on the Texan II. My uneducated/random ass guess is that it is going to take a while...

On another note, I have a dumb question:

How are SNFO's trained in the T-6? I mean obviously a pilot must be flying the aircraft, so how do they learn their super-coke-bottle-glasses NFO skillz in a two seat aircraft?

I was talking to my uncle and he told me he's seen guys duct taped to the ceiling on his carrier, has anyone else seen this before?

No but I've seen the drunks coming back from liberty clam shelled (put inside a Stokes Litter, another Stokes upside down on top, both strapped together to hold drunk inside) and stacked 2 or 3 high. Sucks to be on the bottom when the top guys starts puking.....

Not a whole lot of super-coke-bottle-glasses type stuff in a T-6, just basic instruments. Think about your BI's/RI's in the T-34, only don't touch the sticks - just give steers to the flying pilot...

Beta is basically reverse-thrust, correct? Rather, allows for change in prop pitch. They bought a training aircraft without it, knowing the length of their runways wouldn't suffice?

I'm up way too early for a college kid.

That's correct, but not because of the length of the runways. Navy wanted a turboprop trainer, Air Force wanted a jet trainer. It was a joint program between the Navy/Air Force, and the AF levied requirements that they thought was going to get them a jet. T-6 with no beta + ejection seat was born...

Or so I've heard.
