The original Macklin was an AOCS candidate in the first Pressure Point film made in the early to mid '70s. It was modified slightly in the late '80s and then went away when OCS moved to Pcola and the programs merged. The original was a classic. Actually very well done and highly accurate. I have a copy. If I ever get around to it I'll figure out how to post it. Then you guys will know what the old AOCS was like and why us old guys think you have it pretty sweet at OCS now.

I believe it's buried somewhere in the forum, although likely labled something entirely different.

When I was a Candi-O I got a guy to DOR before he even made it into the Regiment building. He burst into tears and quit.

He probably could have used a viewing of the actual AOCS video. It's called Pressure Point, and the latest version (90ish) featured GySgt Holt (the AntiChrist). I looked briefly, but couldn't find it.

HD, I don't know the whole history. Were you Navy to USMC before wings or after?

Found another vid from my timeframe @ OCS. Interesting video of drill practice and introduction.

That DI must actually enjoy drill. My class would have been on the deck before he even got to call port arms. It wasn't so much rifle drill as rifle KILL with our Gunny. haha. Good times.

Sometimes our Gunny would keep us in present arms until he unfvcked us. I remember my arms feeling really tired.

DRILL Instructors. Kind of self explanatory.

Eh, those who had GySgt S*** at OCS didn't really do rifle drill with the DI, they did rifle PT. Every DI has their own way of training their classes, but the end result is similar.

In Pensacola, SSgt S*** was infamous for NOT drilling, but rather killing his candidates with the rifle. I guess things haven't changed... :D

And god help his class if they didn't do well at drill comp... lack of training aside..
