March 2015 IDC Board

Still haven't seen any IW applicants get picked up. I really want to know their stats so I can better prepare for next time

Well, dependent on what they want and the availability of appointments at medical, this part of the process could take longer than the first. I only had one combat-related issue, an mTBI I suffered in 2011. When I returned in 2012, I had multiple exams and MRIs, but was given the "all clear" by the doctors. None of that mattered to the medical processors though, because that assessment was made back in 2012. Never mind the fact that I'd completed a degree program with an above-average GPA and achieved all "Excellent" or "Outstanding" PFAs since! Anyway, I was given a bit of a runaround by the appointment line (three months wait for an appointment with a specialist), and decided to get my CoC involved (a side note here, NRC does issue letters of inactivity to folks who don't keep contact and complete medical in a reasonable amount of time, essentially negating your Pro Rec). Once it was pushed that this was for a commission, I was able to get in three weeks later, receive the documentation within a month after, and had my PQ the same day I submitted everything.

I just got with my recruiter. I was a not selected. I thought I had a really strong packet. My recuiter said selection numbers were below 5% for intel this board. So I don't feel too bad.

It occurred in 2010. I was found guilty and it was ARI-related. It impacted my career a bit, but it was early enough to where I was able to still rank up fairly quickly (E6 under 6 years). It helped that I did quite a few TDY / Dets / Deps.

Edit- I do want to highlight that it was an isolated incident. It was a mistake and something I owned and attempted to recoup from.

Pro-Rec N across the board (civilians can be expecting results pretty soon though so that's a plus). It seems like IW is especially hard to get into this go around, although honestly I wonder if the fact that I didn't actually have my degrees in hand (graduating this semester) played a role. I suppose I'll stick to the private sector and get some experience, maybe improve my OAR and come back in a few years if it seems advisable.

I'm sure I'll keep watching this thread but thanks for the info and group therapy everyone!

You're really young. You should definitely check out SWO if it's something you've considered. Judging by your first choice, you seem to have been willing to go that route. With your stats, I think you'd be a lock.

Maybe the rumor was accurate? Also, I'm interested in your answer to Cody's question regarding additional medical appointments. I seem to be far more informed than my command about my PRO-REC-Y at this point.

I'll definitely look into it more once I spend some time in the private sector, I mainly liked the SWO option because it would let me get a taste of that experience without getting locked in. Maybe I just need to work on my GPA hehehehehehehe.
 
Kinda late to be asking this, but is there anything I could've done? besides my GPA of course since that is pretty much set in stone...

Here are some of my info...

  • Double Major: International Relations and Asian Studies
  • Minor: Japanese
  • GPA: 3.38
  • ASTB-E: 67/8/7/8
  • Leadership: Inspector General of JROTC in Highschool. Founder of a sign language club in college. Manager duties at Red Robin.
  • LOR: Managers as well as 2 O-6's
