Yeah... from my limited personal experience and what I've read on here, I don't see many guys who are retiring after 20 years in the Navy still having flying duty before they leave.

True, my uncle's got 5 years left and just recently went to a desk/admin type job.

Not many flying opportunities after a Command tour. Of course command is typically picked up by O-5's. My dad's co/xo tour was over almost 4 years ago. Hes only been in 22 years total. Now hes flying a desk. I dont really know about the reason for the increase, but it could really be anything. It may be that they want to increase the competition, planning on cutting a larger number of guys, or they may be hoping with a larger number of pilots they will receive a larger budget per pilot/aircraft. Who knows

So i applied for the May board. my stats:
prior enlisted ( 2 years reserve)
e-3 (PNA'd the last 2 exams my rate is locked)
asvab 88
3.4 GPA in Meteorology
5/5/4
55 OAR
LORs from retired 1 star, current oic (o-5), two past employers and meteorology proffessor
Applied for BDCP swo/meteoc and nfo
pro rec'd for both but on a probationary period due to traffic tickets ( i had a lot)

good luck and congrats on other people that applied

ya it means that i cant become a final select and swear in until january as long as i dont get anymore tickets. my waivers and such went thru with my packet.
