I'm not the first to back out, and I won't be the last.

100% agree! Just saying its better you figure that out now rather than part way through the process or while at OCS. So what solidified your decision?

I'll just simply say that you have to be honest with yourself. It's a noble endeavor, national service. But having already served previously, and being 28, and 5+ years into a career in commercial aviation (with EXCELLENT pay/benefits), for me it's a bit too far out of my comfort zone - especially financially, as I'd be taking a pay cut as an O-1E even factoring pay/benefits/allowances. Had I been fresh out of college and 2-3 years younger, this would all be a no brainer.

It's been said previously that if you aren't 100% in, don't bother. I'm choosing not to bother. That's life I guess.

An Updated List (With some from other threads that are also waiting for the next board). No word yet from my OR... Hurry up and wait.

And I'm sorry to hear that delta215. But thanks for realizing this before the ball really got rolling. Saved yourself and the Navy a good amount of time and money.

Who's applying for what? As far as I can tell, VFR and I are the only two on this thread as NFO #1 choice. Any other NFO guys out there with NFO being their #1 choice?

is this thread only for folks who have their entire packages compiled and ready to submit ASAP? all i have left to do is take my physical at MEPS, and my package is ready for submission! my officer recruiter (NRD ohio) said the physical is now part of the application process, but i've seen some gouge on the site indicating otherwise? anyways, i'd love to be thrown onto the roster! took the ASTB this morning; scored 7/7/7 59

Your package can be submitted without your MEPs being complete... Or so I am told... I have yet to go through meps(hang up with prior testing) but my package has been "pro boarded" for a couple of weeks..

I doubt this has changed in the last few weeks. Nice scores man!! I'm sure your happy to finally have that monkey off of your back.

Now, HURRY UP AND WAIT!!!! Lol, at least you are in good company!

You can put your package in and get a PRO-rec from my understanding. But you won't get a final select until after MEPS. What are you applying for btw?
