Navy Pilot/ NFO "Rolling" Boards MAR/APR 2013

All day, every day!
I got a B (Fail). I really couldn't tell if there was a difference between any of the circles shown on the screen. I already gave a detailed eye exam last month with color plates, diffraction and depth perception that I passed at my school's clinic with flying colors, so we'll see if they want anything more. I'm more worried about my waiver for depression/insomnia treatment back in 05-07. But they probably wouldn't have let me in and seen me if they weren't willing to possibly grant the waiver. Just a matter of waiting, as usual.

Congrats on your FS, John Gil. That's a really big step. Enjoy what time you have left as a civilian right now, if the type of waiting at MEPS is any indication of what OCS will be like.

Given what you said I am would feel positive about your depth perception.

The waiver for depression and insomnia will depend on if medication was used, how long, and how long you have been off. In many cases N3M will make that call on those once seeing all the documents, and be prepared for a psych consult.

I don't remember or even know what passing was. For DP all you had to do is move your eyes across all the circles until one of them "pop out" at you. If that didn't work I just looked between the circles until one "poped out".

My problem at first was the fact that the lady doing the test only had one side of the eyes in the machine open. I'm sitting there, continuously failing the test... and I said okay, I can't be doing THIS bad. She looked at it, and was like, oh, well you need BOTH sides open, I'm sorry!

Thanks for the insight. Yesterday I was thinking of the whole process and about how little (if anything) I've been allowed to say on my own behalf in the whole matter. I think if they actually allowed me to speak in my own defense and explain what was going on those 7 years ago that caused me to seek treatment, then speak as to my current state of mind, then things will turn out in my favor.

I think only if you've been documented as having sought psychiatric treatment.
No you can get a psych consult for anything. I had one cause I have been let go from a few part times college jobs. The psych thought it was stupid.

Congratulations man! Truly happy for you. Hopefully I can get that same date when mine comes in.
Congrats! I think it just a while for them to open your investigation. God I would love to hear some news...don't even know if there is another rolling board or wait till July.
