I just word from my recruiter telling me that there will be no NFO board until April. I pretty much got shafted....

My OR has been pretty good with this kind of stuff and I have heard nothing of the sort. Can anyone confirm anything like this? This seems kind of extreme...it seems like there is always a grain of truth to these rumors but it is never as bad as someone makes it sound on these rumor mongering message boards.

"There won't be an NFO board until April" A direct quote from my recruiter. I don't know how it can get any clearer than that.

I'm in San Marcos.

Supposedly there wasn't supposed to be one for September, or October. Yet I know people who were picked up in September. The same goes for BDCP, yet I know of someone picked up for that. Don't despair because of what you hear on here. Some recruiters have it right, some don't. I'm not saying your information is wrong native, just that sometimes our recruiters are misinformed.

Yes, RUMINT (Rumor Intel) has its roots somewhere, it is rarely the truth. Take for instance my unit deploying here soon - Rumors flew about where we were going, what we were doing, when we would be doing these things, etc. If I listened to RUMINT all of these things would have already happened - we'd be in *name your hostile country / AO*, we'd already be facing down fanatical hordes led by Osama himself, there would be a North Korean ray gun that turns us into sheep...ridiculous? Yes, rumors are. Especially coming from my Joes (Privates).

Life's about choices and gambles so roll the bones, it couldn't hurt and you might get lucky.

Let's all get this straight: I was told that there is no pre-OCS fitness by my recruiter. I'm going through San Francisco's NRD. Who has/hasn't heard that fitness testing is suspended?

I was informed it is suspended but you will still need to do one before you go to OCS. Don't know how true it is but currently I don't need to do one for a FS.

Well why would you leave the Army if it is better than the Navy? ;)

Change of scenery? Naw, I'd originally planned on doing Navy ROTC wayyy back when I graduated from High School. My grades were never quite good enough to get the scholarship, so I joined the Army Reserve. Now, 8 years into that, I've finally been given the opportunity to do what I wanted to do in the first place, fly for the Navy. Sadly, all this Army crap is stuck in my head. I don't know if it'll ever get out.

I was just given you crap... Thanks for your service... Welcome to the dark side! Don't worry OCS will get that stuff out of your head! ;)

I'm hoping that frontal lobotomy we get the first week will erase all the bad Army memories :)

More like a douche, that green weenie is rough!

Nah, I'm a Navy Pilot's brat. My going to the Army was because I thought fighting face-to-face was better than being on a ship when I was 19. I tried going NROTC after my first deployment and active duty tour but I got my girlfriend (now wife) pregnant and the Army was the service shipping the quickest, plus the Navy wasn't taking prior service in 2003.

Now that I'm older (30) and more mature, with a college degree, I have seen the light.

I'm sick of missing boards due circumstances out of my control. Maybe you guys are right and the NFO board in April is a rumor. In the mean time, at least the Marine recruiting station actually picks up the phone...

Native, are you talking about Marine Corp enlisted or officer? I feel you about the things being out of your control. I missed the last two boards because of oversights by my recruiter, but I have a new recruiter now and he is REALLY busting his butt to fix those mistakes so he can to get me into the November SNA board so I don't have to wait until April.

Thats great you have someone actually doing their job. I'm looking into Marine Officer program now, seeing how inefficient the Navy recruiting station has been. My plan was to try to get my package to the board, if I was non select I would go Marines. But I haven't even been submitted to the last three boards, despite my recruiters telling my package was "complete" on numerous occasions. So I'm tired of pursuing the Navy, when its already apparent they couldn't care less about my circumstances.
