OCS 08APR2024 SNA/SNFO BOARD

Does anyone know roughly when results will be released? I saw the Nov 3rd SNA/NFO got their results mid December. Does that mean we should expect mid May?
Usually 2-3 weeks. The Nov/Dec board convened on Dec 04, they adjourned on Dec 13, and posted the results via Sharepoint on Dec 19. There was an estimated 170 applications submitted.

anyone have any suspicion on when we’ll get the at-board list? Just curious. I assume our respective recruiters will reach out to use in between today and the board if we made the list or not.
Realistically: 1-2 weeks before the board convenes
Unrealistic Optimism: early as next week!

Does anyone know exactly how the aircraft selection works? I know its based off scores, preferences, and the need of the Navy, but would you be forced to take something you didnt want if thats all they had? Id MUCH prefer planes then Helo's, but guess id still do helo if it came down to it

Needs of the Navy come above grades and preference, and you could fly your last choice of aircraft. The Navy has a lot of helicopters and almost always needs people to fly them. I would encourage you to find some experiences from helo pilots if you haven't already. Many pilots have had the same feelings during or prior to flight school, but found themselves loving helicopters. If you are still strongly against helos, the Air Force could be worth considering. You could be sent to helos over there, but the odds are much lower.

there are threads on this topic elsewhere on the forum but typically you just do your best and hope for the best.

Does anyone else think that this board may be more competitive than usual even with a potential lower amount of applicants? Just curious because looking at the excel sheet there are a lot of 8s and 9s for such a small sample size and I am just assuming the rest of people who applied have a similar score range.

They need to fill quotas so fewer applicants would mean a higher selection rate. Also keep in mind, the folks who come here and post on this forum typically have above average ASTBE scores on their packages.

The number that find this site does vary, but overall it is a small percentage and the scores vary too, few of my candidates found this site and it was rare I had a candidate who scored under 7. The other thing to remember is there is not only immediate selection but also ISPP for those who are USN AD and they just have to have minimum scores.

There were be a lot to be learned from the statistics on this board.

So has the ISPP been around for a while or is this another new authorization as well.

ISPP has been around for about 2 years, but the word is still getting out, many who were AD didn't know they could apply that way. Then immediate selection came out just recently.

I can attest to this. Many active duty personnel, including myself, were, and still are, unaware of ISPP and its application process until recently. Despite being eligible for the traditional method of applying for boards with an age waiver, ISPP doesn't accept any waivers, which seems paradoxical.

exNavyOffRec could you elaborate further on why ISPP doesn't allow any type of waiver for AD applicants?

My thought is that since designators accept people with waivers in limited numbers having them go through the normal process allows them to better control the numbers brought in with waivers.
