I am amazed that someone could be undecided at this point as well.

The difference between the two cantidates is pretty clear.

Obama wants to raise taxes, take profits from businesses, and grow the government to provide services that you now are able to choose and pay for yourself (or opt not to, and use your money on whatever you want). He wants to cut defense spending, slow system development, and run from Iraq and Afganistan. Those are facts.

McCain is in favor of lower taxes, more personal financial freedom, greater personal responsibility, and a strong defense.

It's a loser mentality vs a winner mentality.

If you never want to make more than 100K a year (as a family), never want to own and grow a business, never want to own more than one home, and want to have to put on a sweater in the winter instead of having the financial freedom to crank up the heater...Obama's your man.

If you want the freedom to earn your own check, keep most of it, have the government out of your life to a greater extent, pick your own doctor and health plan, and not depend on or be crippled by a socialist style "wealth redistribution", then you should vote for McCain.

End of story.

Sounds like you should go back and check all of your facts on both sides.

So where do you fall out?
;)

In the part that finds it absolutely LAUGHABLE that obama will give anyone a tax cut making more than 50K.

The kids in school on this board believe it but youth and stupidity often go hand in hand. ;)

I will pay ~$1000 less per year under Obama than I will under McCain.

LoL

If the stock market keep going down, not only will I not pay any taxes under either of the "lesser of two evils", but I will be back to you guys to spread your wealth around my way.

Obama wants to.....run from Iraq and Afganistan. Those are facts.

You might be able to call the recent SOFA negotiations between Iraq and the US, where the preliminary agreement calls for the withdrawal of US troops by 2011, as running, but there is nothing in Senator Obama's stated policies where he advocates withdrawal from Afghanistan. As a matter of fact, he wants to increase our presence there.

So much for your 'facts', or is it truthiness?

Also, I think its interesting that many military Obama endorsers has been bashed, yet McCain's are praised. Just my opinion...

I think it is the tenor of the board more than anything else.

What is really odd is that putting in last year's #'s from my 1040, the McCain plan would increase my taxes over what I paid in 07. . .

I wonder who runs this website.

If you bothered to do a little research, you would find out.

The good news for most government employees is that you are never going to be in the tax bracket that Obama is targeting.

The problem is, that all of the people who we will be looking to get jobs from and the businesses that they run will feel the brunt of these tax hikes.

Wanna know a dirty little secret? Businesses don't pay taxes. Consumers pay taxes. When faced with the prospect of being taxed out of profitibility or passing the expenses on to the consumer...what do you think is going to happen? When faced with the reality not being able to pay the increased social security taxes for an American employee or shipping a job to Ireland or India, what decision do you think the bean counters at bit corperations are going to make? Obama's tax plan is going to drive consumer prices through the roof and will cause unemployment to skyrocket.

Taking money from most productive citizens and giving it away to the less productive for services not rendered is never a good policy. Never. It has never been successful in the history of world economics. Taking taxpayer money and creating government agencies to take the place of the private sector has never been successful. Just look at Amtrack, The US Postal Service, etc. The government can't do the the job better than the private sector, and that's what Obama is trying to create.

If you are thinking of voting for Obama because you think that he will "only tax the rich" and you won't feel any effect, then you are short sighted and ignorant beyond words.

Check it: Estimate your taxes under McCain and Obama.
http://www.electiontaxes.com/

I will tell you what, I don't think either of their tax plans will affect me. Since only my base pay is taxed, I am in such a low income bracket that I always get my taxes back at the end of the year anyways. I don't pay state taxes.. so what I really look at is who's plan will be most beneficial to the country. I believe Obama's economic plan is the better one.

It's pretty high on Obama's list.
That man is a communist! He's going to ruin America and everything it stands for! He's a liar and a cheat! He steals rich babies during his free time and gives them to homeless people! A commie I tell you!

I find it ridiculous how inexplicably myopic the attacks on both sides attempt to portray either candidate. They're both fine Americans.

I tend to think the inverse. Senator McCain once was a great American, but he's been infected by politics. His political ambitions have led him astray from what he could have been, I believe. Of course, nothing better could be said about "that one" who went from obscurity to presidential nominee in six years. They're both politicians.

I've read that. Thanks. Great book for comparative politics. Doesn't apply to anything we have talked about. You should skim through it sometime.
