Question about recruiters

Mayday

I thought that was the recline!
Damn, this thread is getting hot enough to start smoking. Moderator, is there anyway you can combine all three of these threads addressing the same topic at the same time?
Mike: I know you were drunk, so I ain't gonna judge. But as a former SSgt myself (damn, I've had to pull it out twice today, am I insecure?), I have to say that I wouldn't wish a force-fed enlistment on anybody but a f@ckstick, since some f@cksticks can actually learn from it and improve enough to be officer material (I was one of 'em). But talking to somebody who still has a choice, I couldn't look myself in the mirror after telling them it's a better idea for them to just enlist first, unless they're having trouble getting by financially.

Another idle observation to the general room, is it just me, or are we seeing a sudden trend that just so happens to coincide with that alledged recruiters conference last week? Hmmm... Three threads all started recently with the same issue. Hmmm...

Obviously, he will respond for himself, but I think he was just getting the wrong impression from the posts.

Ummmm, back to the original topic, some recruiters make initiating the application difficult on purpose to weed out those not really serious. I waited a year after talking to a discouraging recruiter before seriously applying and while I kick myself for the lost time, I'm glad I was damn sure this is what I wanted to do before applying. Keep trying with the original recruiter and look into contacting someone in Houston. It is easer to find info on enlisted recruiters and they will usually direct you to the right office. Good Luck!

Not sure how it works in the Navy, but in the MC it's still technically at your CO's discretion. WITH THE EXCEPTION of orders and precedence. If your unit receives/generates deployment orders with a signature date that precedes orders for you to report to Marine OCS...guess what, you're deploying unless your CO says otherwise (reverse situation applies as well, of course). That being said, most Marine Corps unit commanders make the call to send the applicant to OCS, either from all-around foresightedness or hesitance to send an untried boot into a high-demand environment, with all the performance and morale issues that apply.

So I went to the Navy.com website to look up my closest recruiter and called him up. There was no answer, so I left a message with my name and number and waited a few days. Still didn't hear anything, so I went to the local recruiting office here.

So after 2 weeks, I have yet to hear from the officer recruiter and the enlisted recruiter is now calling trying to convince me to enlist and then apply for a commission that way. I'm not interested in doing this.

Should I call a different officer recruiter or just wait and hope this guy calls me? I'm a little hesitant to work with this guy now because he can't even return a phone call. I'm worried about what it's going to be like putting a whole package together.

Any advice?

What NRD in texas I may be able to help
