Have been down at Maxwell AFB all week doing the IP thing - teaching new check-in active duty folks (O-5 C-130 types) how to operate a modern GA airplane (C-182 and C-206).
We had a tough start to the week with CAP experiencing a mid-air at non-towered airport in the Tahoe area. Cessna 206 vs Globe Swift. It was a AF funded training sortie and unfortunately the crew made social media interviews before the news broke - and before a few certain active duty AF GO's were notified.
CAP Crew did an amazing job landing the aircraft - with a lost prop blade, a hole gash in the wing, the damaged engine cowling obscuring all forward vis. The pilot of the Swift died in the post mid-air crash.
A lot of lessons here if you operate at non-towered airports and how valuable ADS-B real time information is.
