September 2009 Board

Let me clarify. As far as I know if you got your package into the board they will review it. If your a last minute (as am I) the board isn't accepting packages because they have enough packages to look at for September. Usually the cut off day is the first of the month. This goes for SNA. I heard some other fields as well but they didn't interest me so do your homework on them if you'd like to know. They may or may not have SNA boards in October, depends if the Navy met their "quota" for the year. This is what I was told and I shared with you guys. For further information seek the guidance of your closest OR.

Wow, and here I am hoping to get PRO-REC'd for SNA and I'm dumped with bad news LOL. First off, my scores compared to the other applicants here - you guys slaughtered me. I got a 5/6/5 and a 48 for my first time taking it. The second shovel of bad news was that I am submitting my package for the October review and now rumor has it that there isn't a board at all... so sad.

Somewhat related to this post, does anyone know an average month's number of applicants for SNA? The only reason I ask is because, like bedwellm, my scores on the ASTB, while good, aren't quite as high as many of the people that have posted on this thread. I am just wondering if the people with Aces across the board are the few that take the time to "flex their muscle" and post here represent just a fraction of the actual number of pro-rec's for SNA.

Any light shed on this would be appreciated. Thanks all.

I had the same thing - actually got it while I was down in SC. Still got a pro-rec in august.

As I understand it, and I could be wrong, the ASTB scores are normalized. So a 5/5/5 would be somebody who did better than roughly half the people who took it, and there are very few 1/2/8/9. So yeah, since you see a lot more 8/8/8 and 6/7/5 or whatever scores on here than lower scores, generally people who did better on the test are more likely to go through with the application, and more likely to be on here posting about it.

Couldn't tell you anything about how good scores the average person who gets pro rec'd had though.

PRO-REC'D SNA AND SWO!!!
Ok here is the latest gouge that I got from my OR, OCTOBER is the last board for FY10 for SNA/NFO and SWO. She stated that they had recently received an email saying that their FY quota would most likely be met by these boards until January in which they may start up again. So all of those who are down to the wire like me, GET ON IT!!! Also, the package has to be on their desk BY the 25th, no mailed on the date of the 25th. I'm overnighting mine on the 21st in the absolute latest!!!

AB18 thanks for the heads up. Not sure how I haven't come across this before.

Indeed, thank you! I thought there was many, many more applications than that, and knowing that there is on average, at least a 50% selection rate, it lowers my blood pressure by about 50 points :D, I have been so paranoid, convinced I won't make it. Here's to everyone on here posting being those chosen!

SShanerBaner: All things considered you still have a strong App. I don't think one instance of lack of judgment/ bad luck will affect your package negatively as a whole. But what do I know....

Let's hope those estimations were accurate or in the ball park at least.

We can only hope. Knowing that there is a full quota of reviewed apps for the Sept. boards may change up the numbers, I suppose we'll just have to wait the three more weeks.
