September 2014 IDC Board

I'm assuming the results in BOL will resemble those for a Chief Selection board? A last name with a (sometimes cut-off) first name, in a long list? Well, maybe not so long of a list for this board, lol.

Command level will only list the names of personnel applied from that UIC. Like the personal bol it will state pro rec Y or N. The only difference is on the command level side it goes Into detail of what each indicator means for both the CO and person who applied. More of a "what's next" since commands don't deal with applicants on a daily basis.

My recruiter said its "easier" for prior enlisted to go officer than civilians. I took that with a grain of salt, as I did everything he said.

Unfortunately when they pull the hard data that just isn't the case, the selection rate is much lower for those apply for an officer program who are AD enlisted, IDC/PAO/EOD/SEAL are the exception but those are smaller designators.

There are a few reasons for this, and if you took out what I would call "board fodder" I believe the data would be much more even.

If you want to see a show, have an enlisted recruiter tell a person that has a degree and wants to go officer "go enlisted first, better chance to get picked up and you will actually be respected as an officer", this happened with a senior officer in earshot, who then had the data pulled from NRC, who then had the enlisted recruiter give a brief about what he had learned.

He mentioned the ASTB being more important for civilians...my response was just a tidbit regarding that. To be honest, I don't think anyone knows for sure what boards are looking for, other than the members of that board. I'm sure all of us can get on here and say, "I heard X..." and it will all be contradictory. Best way to get through this is just to stay busy until results come out. And trust me...I'm checking BOL every 3 minutes and 24 seconds too...I can't help it, but I try to stay busy and keep my mind off of things.

Unless you are going aviation the most important thing is going to be degree/GPA, this goes for civilian/AD/reserves.

You've gotta love enlisted recruiter tactics. This has got to be one of the most common, given that officer spots are currently at a premium.

Think you could post a pic of what this looks like?? Blur out the names and PII of course.

Is that actually true? I mean, I work with a LOT of IDCs who were priors or lat transfers, but I don't feel like it's a majority by any means. Especially if you don't count the USNA and ROTC folks who got into the IDC because of being DQed from unrestricted line jobs.

Of course, that's just my own experience, I don't have numbers on it, and I could be completely, horribly, embarrassingly off.

If you look at the IDC PROREC list, about 50% of the selectees are "NRD FLEET", meaning active duty. The other half come from the actual NRDs of course, but talking to other ORs and from personal experience a good chunk of our own applicants are prior enlisted.

Here is a view of what it looked like when I got recommended during FY13
Notice that the posted dates were 2 days and 9 days after the board

Did anything populate in your BOL before the results were posted? Like did it have "board pending" or anything? Mine just says it has not received any updates at this time.
