Thanks for the insight @plastycx ... It's a bit different from the enlisted advancement "magic box" lol .... How many of you remember being up at the butt crack of dawn hoping for that magic box?? This was way before results were posted on social media or whatever and the only way to find out was either through BOL or waiting for the CMC to announce the results over the 1MC.

So, again, judging from the April (May) IDC Board thread, results were received by NOPO at 0945, and released at 1030 to AD. This was on Friday, June 13th. If this is any indicator we may be looking at results being released ON 03 October, rather than "by 03 October," as previously mentioned. That, or this Friday... but next Friday seems much more likely, given that the last board had three weeks between board and results.

Don't take this wrong way, and it might be that I am a bit under the weather, but..... What? I got so lost when I was reading this.

Well, in order to keep from going crazy, I've been looking back at previous IDC board threards, hoping to find similarities in the timeframe for results release. From what I gathered in the April 2014 IDC Board thread, board convened as of 21MAY and results were released 13JUN (three and a half weeks). Our board convened on 15SEP, and three and a half weeks from that date it 10OCT.
HOWEVER...
A previous comment in the thread stated that NOPO is hopeful for a release by 03OCT. 13JUN was a Friday. 03OCT is a Friday. Therefore, results will be released on a Friday, 03OCT.

The times are just to show that results came out just before lunch last time, so it's possible it may also be that way this time.

Don't worry though; I'm sure I'll be way off. This is just how I keep myself busy, and put my degree to use.

That stinks cause I did pretty good on the OAR.

I'm with you @spazzz, maybe I shouldn't have spent so much time studying for the OAR. lol. It's interesting though, you would think if they are so interested in tech degrees, why aren't they interested in a test score for math/science aptitude? Interesting.

Unfortunately when they pull the hard data that just isn't the case, the selection rate is much lower for those apply for an officer program who are AD enlisted, IDC/PAO/EOD/SEAL are the exception but those are smaller designators.
& "My recruiter said its 'easier' for prior enlisted to go officer than civilians."

I'm confused where this conversation ended up. I consider "prior enlisted" and current "active duty" to be distinct categories with differing strengths and weaknesses. Is the outcome of all the comments that the selection rate for "prior service" is higher than civilian but that the selection rate for AD is not higher than civilian or prior enlisted?

Bottom line, I was going to join the Navy anyway. Because I already have a degree, they screened me for officer and said no, but said if I wanted to do that later, it would be "easier" being IN the Navy already. I don't give a lot of thought to anything my recruiter told me other than what paperwork I needed to sign and when to be where. He never lied to me, and I've had a good experience in the Navy so far. I'm just trying to give a reply to what he said about his OAR score as it pertains to civilians vs. prior enlisted/active duty.

I could post a video of all the members of the board saying in unison that its easier for enlisted/prior service to become officers and someone else would throw on here that they heard something else. I am only telling what I heard. I am in no way an authority on the matter.

Sure, I respect that this is all anecdotal. Like most people on this thread, I'm just trying to parse through whatever information people have and see what I can get from it. My OR and I don't talk at all so I really have no other source of information other than what I can glean from everyone else's comments. I really appreciate all the information people seek to contribute on this site because I would be really in the dark without it.

Unless it's about Chuck Norris, be careful what you say in here Rick. It's a real shark tank. Lol

So I've noticed. :)

What blows me away is that if there 300+ applicants, why aren't there more people on this thread stressing, commenting, obsessing? It seems like the same 5 or 6 people making comments. I figure there are a lot of people watching.

Most of this thread is all BS when it comes down to it unless a board member wants to hop on here and give us insider info on how the board operates it's all just speculation to pass the time. ;)
