This is true. My aviation scores went up but my OAR dipped dramatically the second time around. The math really raped me on the ASTB-E. I still would like to be doing a job that I know I'll enjoy for the rest of my career in the Navy.

I had a guy picked up for SWO who had a 2.3 GPA in Business Admin. He was a three sport athelete and Engineering was ruining his GPA. OAR was a 63.

Um, what? First, if you think I was making a snide comment, I wasn't--I was just letting future attendees know that with the right background, an online degree can work just fine.

I have two published defense articles (one won a major award), was valedictorian in HS, cut my teeth leading Marines on the ground in OIF and didn't get an OAR in the sub-50 range. I'm not going to get into another one of these AW pissing matches. I'm sorry you waited so long to go for a commission--but that's your own fault.

Bottom line: I could have been NFO (chose intentionally not to take the extra parts--I knew what I wanted) and if you looked at my whole package (including a recent high DLAB score), some might have said I had a shot at intel, but make no mistake about this--I chose SWO so that I could be given leadership opportunities right away.

I'm just saying that some members of this IDC thread have started to diminish the resumes and background of the SWO selects due to the high selection, especially when many SWO selects have scores higher than a few IDC candidates. Let's just keep a level head and wait for IDC next week. Good luck.
