hey pugs, were you in aocs class 09-87...this bumpy, looking for classmates from that class:icon_smil
you will get a "arrive no later than" date.
as long as you don't arrive later than that date, you're in the clear. where you are between picking up your records in newport and walking through the doors at the quarterdeck at API is not known by the Navy. all they care about is you showing up prior to the "no later than" date.
so yes, go hang out with your family and friends. i drove from newport to north carolina to orlando before finally showing up in pensacola almost 3 weeks later.
Why would you even want to take leave? Newport seems like a great place to spend the holidays.
If you don't take leave, the DI's don't get there free time off... so you want to take leave... My DI said he would "straight murder" anyone who stayed all day and everyday... Everyone took leave.
So it looks like I will be going to Newport around November or December. Does that mean that I will have to take my leave days to go home for Christmas then? I am guessing they don't have any honey baked ham in RI ...
The second time he just got tired of the freakshow, stopped the 20 min timer, and gave us 30 seconds to cut up the steak with a knife and fork.had to eat it with a spoon, but non the less we had steak and it was actually pretty good.
I personally think OCS was better knowing less.
sounds like your talking bout "Black Saturday"
"Shock and Awe" was a good description for the 1st week or so.
The second time he just got tired of the freakshow, stopped the 20 min timer, and gave us 30 seconds to cut up the steak with a knife and fork.
Was kinda fun eating it with a spoon, though...just pick the whole thing up and take a bite out of it like a caveman.
1) Theoretically I will graduate OCS on Nov 20th, let’s say I hot-tailed it down to Pensacola to check in. I assume I would get whatever the normal Christmas leave is, plus whatever I had saved from OCS and my three weeks in Pensacola, but could I go negative like I could with the NLT?
2) Use all my days up till NLT, Dec 20th maybe for example, and then not get to be home for Christmas at all, could I go more negative? This seems like a bad idea I know.
2) Further, do they still charge you for leave when some of your leave fell over a normal holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or whatever)?
Its the same as when you get charged for Saturday/Sunday when your on leave, even though those aren't typically working days.
