1) Theoretically I will graduate OCS on Nov 20th, let’s say I hot-tailed it down to Pensacola to check in. I assume I would get whatever the normal Christmas leave is, plus whatever I had saved from OCS and my three weeks in Pensacola, but could I go negative like I could with the NLT?
2) Use all my days up till NLT, Dec 20th maybe for example, and then not get to be home for Christmas at all, could I go more negative? This seems like a bad idea I know.
2) Further, do they still charge you for leave when some of your leave fell over a normal holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or whatever)?
1. Don't count on graduating OCS at ANY particular date. You will understand why when you get there.
2. Leave is leave. Military leave is far more generous than civilian leave, so ALL of it counts, even weekends. Doesn't matter if it's a saturday, christmas, the 4th of July, or whatever. If you're on leave, it legally must be charged.
3. Count on being the duty bitch when you first get ANYWHERE in the Navy. As the new guy, you'll be the go-to guy for duty, so I wouldn't count on checking in with leave-chit in hand. They may be filling your name in on the duty schedule. By all means try to get the leave, but if they need you, you'll be standing watch. Just checked in a week before christmas? Damn, well I guess you're in khakis behind a desk on christmas eve, then, ENS FNG!
