Yeah Putin owns Trump so much that he launched two separate invasions during the trump administration! Oh wait, he actually invaded under Obama and Biden? No way
That argument loses steam when you consider that Trump is doing worse than nothing about the invasion- he’s handing Putin a propaganda win, while beating up on Ukraine and aligning with Moscow’s policy goals.
There’s having someone invade on your watch (for which I agree more should have been done in 2014), and there’s aiding and abetting the enemy.
Trump is the best player on Putin’s team right now.
Because…Trump would have slapped him upside the head then? Why isn’t he now?
Why isn’t he threatening to nuke him until he returns all of the 20,000 abducted children?
You are probably right about the war ending. And Putin will face zero consequences for his war crimes, which will likely be spun as something other by team MAGA. All while Ukraine suffers for it.
Not sure how that helps us and our allies more than our enemies though.
It will shift gears. No way Putin will stop trying to get all of Ukraine. We will need to lean forward to cement the “peace”.

This is a ridiculous talking point spun up by Trump. UKR wants peace, but they know a BS agreement will not secure any peace, and will allow RUS to refit/rearm.

I agree, and even if they weren’t, Russia is an enemy. We were capitalizing on a generational opportunity to attrite a significant portion of their conventional military for pennies on the dollar, and keep the commie dogs corralled. That is all being actively thrown away now.
Despite any type of moral argument, just the basic national security interests alone should win the day...and for pennies on the dollar like you said.
Yet, elected leaders remain mute, for the most part.
