Thanks a lot for the P-3 pics, especially the ones at Kaneohe Bay since I'm hoping to get stationed there.

Looks like -37 FINALLY painted up a show bird (I'm guessing it's ER51). I hope their current XO had something to do with this. I know several guys were lobbying for it when I was there.

I think he was being sarcastic. Anyone that's ever done a set of workups knows who ATAC is.

Yep...I put it out there for our very own Mean Ole Ha'ole man. I am well aware of the specific type/model/series and who owns it. In fact, can anyone trace it's origin (there's a huge clue staring you right in the face).

If you really want to get technical, the Israeli version with the extended tailpipe was produced as the A-4N. It was basically the same as the -M, but they replaced the 20mm Mk12 guns with their own 30mm DEFA cannon, and obviously, the extended tailpipe, which was to put the heat emission farther behind to counteract the effectiveness of the SA-7.

Also the "H" model, which started the whole ball rollin' for the IAF ... "H" model for Heyl Ha'Avir' (IAF) to be technical .... and if we're REALLY being technical, don't forget the TA-4"H" model, either ... :)

Most of the "H" models started life as "F's" ... but some "E's" were also modified in Israel proper when shipped over as replacements to come up to "H" specifications.

Kingsville Tower from the workin' side of the glass house ... complete w/ 5 average white guys and one jive controller ... AND as a special bonus: the Final Countdown time-warp skyline in the background ...

I thought I was gonna' DIE after climbing THAT particular stairway to Heaven ... :D

I was only in a tower once. So I don’t remember very much about the “décor.”:) But… they have to post the compass points on immoveable objects! That’s it! I’m never flying again!

Now if we could just get those guys the clearance to turn with us at the merge!!!!

BTDT when the -18 was a "new" airplane. Good grief, that was a long time ago ...

I was always impressed by the Hornet's "pitch authority" as the term was in the ol' days -- I don't know what you call it today ... the same (?) --- but fortunately, the A-4 flown well by experienced hands was more than a match in a rolling fight for any F-18 in those days. The Hornet drivers -- like the F-15/16 drivers (all w/ superior mounts) just kept trying to fight OUR fight.

We'd say: bring it on ... :)

And thus we begin the ever lasting HABFM discussion of game plan development!

Speaking of which, my uncle and I talked to one of the ATAC guys at the NAS Oceana air show. They said they need pilots right now and actually gave my uncle his card and told him to call. Unfortunately he's still got 5 years until retirement. But if any of you guys want to get into that scene it might be worthwile to give them a call. :D
