And when your time comes, some young JSF driver will likely ask what the "JV" Hornet did to deserve a stamp. It's all relative and everybody gets their 15 minutes of fame. Don't begrudge others and they won't begrudge you.

Would the Corps actually get around to retiring the Phrog by '17? I'd guess the world's supply of Coke cans would last much longer than that.

I think the Reserves are supposed to bid farewell to them about then... There's never enough Coke cans! I actually did the fly-off after my first deployment with a Mountain Dew can as a patch on the sync shaft tunnel cowling...

You've missed a couple of points here on the process and issue at hand:

1) Hawaii has asked for a Tomcat to be displayed and local political scientist worked this caper as quid pro quo.

2) They aren't honoring the Tomcat as a legislature per se, they are calling for United States to do so and other states will likely follow their lead. They simply are the first and, if anything, it's a zinger to Virginia, California or New York that Hawaii stepped up to the plate when they should have because of their state's more direct relationship.

3) If you think the Adversaries should be "honored", you or anyone else can testify and organize others to do so and it will happen easier than you might imagine. "Our guy" will certainly help. These events don't cost any true political capital so you're not fighting opposition as much as dealing with political process.

Note: It takes time and effort so poking at others who did something merely highlights lack of effort on the part of other people or organizations. The Intruder Association could have easily done the same thing and succeeded. That said, I'm already talking to Postal Service about a Naval Aviation series using this effort to start it off with a bang so everyone will get their favorite aircraft honored at some point. The better organized your community is, the higher up on priority list your aircraft will be (they want to sell stamps that don't get used if that isn't obvious).

Note: I was kidding.

The lefty HNL legislature honoring ANYTHING Navy/military gets my "vote". Tomcat drivers never did like it when an A-4 "poked" fun at 'em w/ a "GUNS KILL" call ... I guess some things never change. :)

*sigh* ...
 
Legendary Aircraft of the US Navy... what no F14?

Well, back in 98 the Marshall Islands celebrated some of the Navy's best, with this stamp series. Guess the F14 didn't make the cut back then.... notice the mighty warpig looking good as the first stamp.... :D You even have an A4!
