What NRC considers competitive

I wanted to get some opinions on my potential competitiveness for a possible Intel Officer Position. Stats are below:

College: Bachelors in Justice Studies-3.45 GPA
Graduate Degree: Juris Doctor (JD)-2.9 GPA
Work Experience: 4 years of practicing law
OAR: Taking on Oct.19th

I spoke to my recruiter and he indicated to me that Intel Officer needs to have an OAR score around a 53. I plan on studying up on the materials to take the test. I don’t plan on thinking about JAG because I’m not a huge fan of litigation. I just wanted to get everyone’s thoughts on what a competitive OAR would be for the Intel slot and general competitiveness. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

A 50 is required for Intel:

Anything >50 is fine.
From my understanding Intel primarily looks at your GPA and Major. (Undergrad and Post are both calculated)

SWO offers waivers to 35 for prior only. Otherwise you are stuck trying for IWC

Good Evening Everyone.

Just wanted to throw myself out there for a quick look to see how I would stack up for IWC Boards (IP):

Active Duty IT2(IW)(Maybe IT1 when exam results come out) Almost 4 years in.
Bachelors of Science in Cyber Security 4.0 GPA
CASP Certified
Last 3 EVALS: #11 of 88 (4.0 MP) #1 of 80 (5.0 EP) #1 of 80 (5.0 EP)
LOR: 1 O-5(Prior CO)
Work Experience was basic help desk support at my command. Being shore side CONUS takes away most of our rights as SysAdmins, but this allowed me to put alot of time into doing well in school and volunteer work(obtained my MOVSM). I also have minimal work experience when it comes to COMMS. The craft I worked with only had a few radios that were basic HF LOS and VHF LOS. Currently in JCC learning more and more about the RADIO side everyday. Getting ready to go to NCTS overseas which should help.

I am waiting to hear back from an OR about scheduling my OAR. I feel pretty confident with the studying I have done to prepare me until now.

I am also looking for anyone who would consider being a mentor to me that is in the IWC. I am always looking for more and more information about the community so I can speak intelligently when it comes to my boards.

I know that it is technically "highly desired" to have language skills and my recruiter seems to think that it's great that I was able to add this to my package, but I don't know what it would do to a 3.3 GPA and 59 OAR.

Very very minimal impact on your application. Remember, enlisted, not officers are the ones who are linguists and use a foreign language.

If you want to use your foreign language, go the enlisted route and contract a CTI job.

From my understanding ALL officer communities could care less about languages. Enlisted personnel (CTI) are the language experts.

He was asking specifically about the IWC board but agreed overall.

This is what I was under the impression of from my research on places like this. I'm aware that even if I get a PROREC-Y I won't ever use my language, and I know that CTIs actually use them, but I'm just curious why they even include DLPTs in a package if no one cares about them.

Hello all, just beginning the process of putting together my OCS application. I'm applying for Intel (what I wanted but also apparently the only option for me at my age).

-37 years old
-OAR: 59
-BA in Anthropology, 3.57 GPA
-MA in Archaeology, approx. 3.3 GPA (from foreign university so GPA estimated)
-Relevant work experience as an analyst in the public sector, several years of leadership/management experience
-Working on LORs and motivational statement; LORs will probably be from previous managers and professors from my Master's program. I unfortunately don't have anyone in my life from the Navy or currently in active duty who knows me well enough to use as a reference. I assume they don't want family members as a reference. My parents were both military intelligence, so I grew up in a military environment and plan to highlight that as part of why I want to join, even if it's at this later stage in life.

I know my application may not be as competitive as some, but I'm hoping my relevant work and life experience may help tip the scales a bit. My recruiter told me the next Intel board is 22 October.

I am also hoping my work experience helps me out. I currently work for the DON in supply, and I hope this helps me when my package is up for review. All the best!

Age 25 M no prior
GPA: B.S. 3.34
ASTB: 59, 7, 7, 7
3 LOR
Not sure when next SNA SNFO board is, I have been told it is a rolling board?

What is the "Aviation Immediate Selection Board"? Did not see that in FY18.
