I have the 'stache growing in, its still a bit patchy but when I trim it, it looks pretty solid. Hopefully I can grow it in better before primary (if I can get there first)

With the PCola wait times being what they are - if you can't grow a respectable stache between OCS and Primary... maybe just shave hahaha

Its still the military. If it doesn't look good people will roast you until you shave it. Will be an easy decision.

I've heard super conflicting things that for aviation they don't really care about GPA. ASTB is king.

Not true. GPA is looked at just as much as ASTB. Biggest thing is PFAR, next is GPA.

My facial hair looks straight up terrible when I grow it out, comparable to some gnarly pubes. I've decided to rock the clean-shave look until I can figure out how to tame the beast and make the stache look presentable.

On my deployment in 2018 the skipper of the boat let men grow out their facial hair and women have their hair down (as long as they weren't on the flight deck or machine spaces) and you just described basically half of the crew.

I'm doing the Jantzen ASTB PBM trainer and damn I forgot how hard this is. Although I am doing it on a 35" ultrawide monitor, I think that makes it a bit harder.

I'm surprised you have to take the ASTB and go through OCS. With a mustache like that they should have just sent you straight to Pensacola
