I wonder if the debate about the CAR or perhaps NAM’s with a “C” device earlier in this thread would be happening if the missiles shot at the Carney and other ships were from a legitimate nation like Iran instead of Houthis? It’s sad when we put down actual combat and ordnance being exchanged because a debate wants to occur over a piece of cloth.

That's true today in a permissive EM/cyber environment. Any strike fighter at 200' with Harpoon + capability can reach out and touch ANY surface combatant Renhai, Arleigh Burke included.

The same thing that happens now with manned fighters conducting strikes against near-peer warships. OTH sensors are already critical parts of our kill chain.

The PRC's rapid modernization and our love for investing into platforms vice ordnance caught us flat-footed.

Like I said earlier, the current solution is our asymmetrical USW advantage.

I don't think the physics has changed much, but shipborne OTH radars have been around for a while. Whether specific OTH radars can actually do OTH targeting vice detect/track may be a discussion for a different forum.
