I plan on submitting an officer package at the end of this year. I took my ASTB and got good enough scores for auto select pilot. I am currently enlisted, on my package should I put Pilot and NFO, or just Pilot? If I get accepted as Pilot, is there any way that can get taken from me? And if so would that be a good reason to put NFO as a backup?

Don’t put NFO down if you don’t want to be an NFO. There is nothing wrong with just listing one designator.

Do they still roll you for 3 weeks if you do not get good low on the IST? Or do you just get booted out?
They changed it back to Sat Med and you no longer roll for failing the IST. The only rollable event in Indoc phase is RLP, however, each evolution failure (First Tuesday, IST, Fast cruise, inspections, academic tests) now results in a counseling chit and if you get 5 of those you get sent to a performance review board (PRB).

OCS is still 13 weeks?

How was it after RLP? Heard it’s like college with PT lol
It's not too far off. Standard day was PT every morning and then just back-to-back hours of classes/drill. The worst part is trying not to fall asleep during your 4th lecture of the day lol. Having a small study group during the academic phases to help fill in gaps of knowledge was also huge.

Did anybody in your class wear a knee sleeve? Curious if I can bring one

There was someone with a knee brace but that's about it. If they'd let you wear it, I'd imagine it would have to be for a medical reason. They let you wear compression shorts though iirc.

Makes sense, just curious if it was common or not. I don’t necessarily need it, but my knee tends to get a bit sore from long mileage. I’m working on it though so all good thanks!

I got the 495s because they fit me better than the the 800s. Also for my class no one formally looked at and approved the boots of those who brought some. Instead we had to go ask ourselves. So if your boots are steel toed, black, and look like everyone else’s I say use them and don’t question it.
Hello, all. Was trying to find some information on the recommended Belleville 800 ST boots and I found this comment and a few others on page 489 of this thread. As someone who has NEVER worn boots in my life, I thought it would be a good idea to buy them ahead of time to break them in, learn how to shine them, blouse them etc, so as to save time at OCS. With that being said, can anyone confirm if it is still ok to show up to OCS with the 800 ST's instead of using the ones issued to you? I know these comments on page 489 aren't that old, but from other messages I've been reading on Air Warriors it seems like things are constantly changing at OCS. TIA.
