Before I was a CWT1 I was an AM2. So I know exactly about that grass.
Intel life is chill, but coming from the flight deck to sitting at a desk all the time has made me sort of bitter and lazy. There honestly isn’t a drive or job satisfaction in this field. Quality of life in Intel is by far the best in the Navy. Job satisfaction is piss poor.
I want job fulfillment which is why I decided to pick other jobs. I would honestly be miserable being a MCWO or IP
As a burnt out AT1, I'll take the Intel life any day. Wish I could convert to CWT. I'm locked into my rate tho. Cybersecurity is my escape plan. Whether that means going OCS or getting out. I'm halfway to a Master's and have all the CompTIA certs and then some.

Supply could be interesting due to the variety of assignments but I can't imagine it would be any more exciting if Intel seems too chill.

Understood. I was mostly aiming to encourage him to improve the things he can change (GPA and OAR) and try to stay motivated/optimistic with the things he can’t change if he doesn’t get selected this go around. It’s been my professional experience that employees lose the drive to work hard and stay dedicated for any length of time if they feel that their hard work and dedication isn’t recognized, and if they feel their hard work and dedication isn’t going to get them where they want to be. I just would hate for someone to lose optimism and call it quits after 10 years of dedication and hard work. So I acknowledged his hard work and dedication, and I encouraged him to stay hardworking and dedicated if it doesn’t work out this time. Just out here keeping the fire burning 💪
I get that as long as the OAR isn't in the waiverable area it wouldn't be a concern, given how little each class moves a GPA it would take a Master's to make a meaningful difference.

You are right employees need to feel that their contributions are important, the military in general does a poor job of that.

I felt the same. I do know where you are coming from. Hopefully we both make it and can enjoy the fruits of our labor. I’m surprised they would t let you covert. CWT is struggling when it comes to retention. I converted in 2018 and had to deny my CWAY (back when denying cway was a thing) in order to convert.

Having known and put in many Supply officers just be aware that most assignments are pretty much desk jobs, all the Supply officers that I kept up with ended managing storerooms and people their first tours then various office jobs the second tour. There are interesting jobs out there, those are the ones where luck and timing intersect just right.

Avoid a CVN.

Supply can set you up well for getting a good job at many large companies.

I guess it’s not the just “desk job” aspect of it but the overall fact that I can’t see my work being completed. As an AM I got to see jets fly, and sign off MAFs. As a CWT I do a report on a network and that’s it… I feel as a Supply officer I will be able to at least see the fruits of my labor in tangible numbers. Being able to see a RAS was completed and knowing that supply made that happen. I don’t mind a desk job, just the job satisfaction is a little low. Im also more business inclined than I am cyber.

Every supply officer I’ve talked to and others have talked, or that I’ve seen talking to others say they love being a suppo. Maybe it’s a cope but it seems to be badass lol

I enjoy desk work as long as I have work lol I’m done doing hard labor on aircraft, and I would like the compensation to make sitting at a desk worth it.

What’s wrong with CVNs? From the cursory research I’ve done online, CVNs seem to be the best way to start your supply officer career. I could be wrong though, supply information (especially on career development) is painfully surface level on the internet.

Does TAR Supply board results come out separately? I saw someone get selected yesterday on FB group.
Not sure to be honest, I don’t think so, I believe they are completely separate boards so more than likely separate times for result release.
