CVN's have lots of people, lots of parts and that can be lots of headaches. In each of my CVN tours Supply Officers were stepped on regularly, sometimes it was for things that were vital like parts that showed were onboard that weren't which prevented us from getting underway, sometimes it was for some LS letting the CO's favorite ice cream run out. The Supply Officer being paged over the 1MC to report to the CO immediately, or the Supply Officer being told over the 1MC to keep the chow lines open an extra hour due to evolutions running behind, etc....What’s wrong with CVNs? From the cursory research I’ve done online, CVNs seem to be the best way to start your supply officer career. I could be wrong though, supply information (especially on career development) is painfully surface level on the internet.
The CO who yelled at the Supply Officer for not having his favorite ice cream was eventually told to retire, but not until after getting a star.
Those I know who went Supply seemed to really enjoy their tours on subs, and smaller ships for sea going commands. Squadrons seemed to be really good too.
