16AUG2021 SWO Board

I ran into this same issue. I spoke to my recruiter yesterday in regard to the absence of my name on the "At Board" list. He confirmed my package was not going to be reviewed by this board although it was turned in well before the deadline and I was initially told that I would definitely be seen in August. He denied there were issues processing my application. Supposedly, they`re still catching up those who got rolled over from previous boards. Additionally, he said there has been a rise in application submissions since the start of COVID. Not sure what to believe...... so, take it for what it is worth.
My recruiter sat on mine for the last round even though it was already completed and I called twice a week for updates. It caused me to have to do a waiver for age. I am hoping that that is not the reason if I am not selected.

Alright, ladies and gentlemen, I got three questions.

1. Anyone heard anything on the boards yet? I know results won’t be out for another week or two but I’m curious if anyone has heard how they are going (speed/selection completed/I need a girlfriend/etc.?

2. (Estimation) How much sooner is the “unofficial results” list usually posted before the official, anyone know, @exNavyOffRec?

Also, if I’m correct, the “unofficial results” list is just the names with no dates? The way the board did it traditionally before recently switching to assigning dates with the names (aka the “official results”)?

3. We are going to need to find someone who has access to the “official results” list to post on this thread.

Anyone here have that sort of access?

#1 I’m pretty certain the board happened (based off the fact there was an “at-board list” and my OR has not said otherwise). My OR said today that if I receive a Pro-Rec-Y from this board in a few weeks when the results are released it will not include an OCS date (for me personally). This is because my #1 is Intel and I’d have to wait for the result of an Intel board to receive an OCS date. I submitted my package in early May, so I’m hoping I can be on the NOV Intel board, but since learning Intel is closed for FY22 I’m not sure how things will shape out. As Intel is quite competitive and a bit of a mystery as to what makes a successful package I’m hoping I am selected for SWO. I have serious interest in both jobs. I also hope my competitiveness is not hurt, despite the fact I wouldn’t be given an OCS date for the 16AUG board.

#2 My OR said they will just get an email with the results in a few weeks.

Of course the board happened. If it's on the schedule, it happened.

I applied SWO/INTEL in early 2021, also with Intel as my #1. My SWO board was 22FEB21 and my IWC board was 01MAR21. That being said, I received my Pro-Rec from SWO on March 27. I received my Pro-Rec-N from IWC in mid-May, I believe. I didn't receive a ship date until June 25. That ship date was 17OCT21.

Looking at your stats, I say you have a good possibility of being picked up by SWO.

That being said, you're going to have to wait a while for a ship date. You'll likely ship mid-2022. Why? Because you'll get a Pro-Rec Y or N from SWO by October. You won't receive an answer from IWC until late December, iif lucky. Most likely early to early to mid January because of the holidays. If you're Pro-Rec'd by IWC, you'll get a ship date about 4-6 months after the fact (faster if you're lucky), so about May to July 2022. If you're not Pro-Rec'd, about a month after being rejected, you'll get a class date as a SWO candidate about 3-5 months after. So, May to July 2022.

If you had put SWO as #1, I would say your earliest possible class date would be January. Keep in mind, this is all conjecture about when you'll ship. You may get lucky and ship in February/March/April 2022.

1. Results usually come out between 4 and 6 weeks after the board meets. So, likely between September 16-30. You may hear something as early as September 9.

2. Most OR's will not give you an "unofficial" result. My OR refused to tell me any results until the official list came out. It prevents them from making mistakes. Unofficial results is looking for your SSN in the ENTRS and seeing if your name was placed on a class roster, I believe.

3. Someone will post the official results before you receive your phone call. This is much more likely if you're on the east coast. Why? Because if results come out at 2-3PM EST, most ORs won't be checking the lists right before leaving for the day. However, for the ORs on the west coast, it'll only be 11AM-12PM PST, so they'll still be in the early part of their work day.

Intel was my #2 choice, but if I get picked for SWO I don't care about Intel because this is the one I wanted. Would I still have to wait for Intel results to come out or would they give me an OCS date before Intel results come out?

If you apply for 2 designators and are picked up by your #1 choice before your #2 choice meets, your application will not be reviewed by your #2 choice as they will assume you accepted #1 choice designator. You will likely receive a ship date with your #1 choice's Pro-Rec-Y, if that's the result.

If your #2 choice meets before your #1 choice has issued results, your application will be reviewed at that board. If you are Pro-Rec'd by both boards, you will have to speak to your OR to accept one of the two recommendations.

Thanks for the information. This lines up with what my OR explained to me last week. I’m just going to settle in for the waiting game, and hope I get lucky to be seen on the IWC board in November. If not I’ll have a decision to make regarding if I want to wait for the FY23 IWC boards or not. You should change your name to NavyOCSHelpful haha.

Glad to be of help! Personally, unless you've got a super strong application (like 3.75GPA and studies/experience that makes you useful in the IWC community), I wouldn't wait for FY23 boards. I'd just accept SWO and go in mid-2022. You'll get to be an unrestricted line officer as a SWO!

I'll need to create a new profile once I finish OCS. I'll no longer be an OCS hopeful, but OCS graduate! lol

If it is on the schedule it "should" happen, many instances of boards being cancelled, that is what happens when NRC makes a schedule 18 months out.

Since Intel is filled for FY 22 the first board that would look at filling FY 23 "should" be in March or April 2022 with a ship date of July or later.

That's interesting. So what happens to the remaining IWC boards this year? Rolled into later boards? Or do they start filling FY23 spots?

What exactly does "Pro-Rec-Y" stand for?

I figured that means that an individual was selected by the board. I'm just curious as to what it is short for.
