Honestly, yesterday I picked up my guitar for the first time in a couple of months. Just like I needed an emotional break from AW, I've been on a bit of a break from music. It was my career and dominated my life pre-COVID. The loss of that was what sent me on the path of pursuing aviation. I needed to give myself some "time off" to begin enjoying music as a hobby/passion again instead of as a job (I was making my living teaching music, directing a music school, and gigging with two bands). Yesterday I pulled out the last guitar I bought before I accepted my music career was over. It's a 1950's Gibson acoustic I bought from my best friend (and the country singer I toured with) and probably the nicest instrument I own. It felt good, and I'm starting to get ideas for song writing and composition again so I think I'm coming back into music being a big part of my life againHow’s guitar going?
Neat, how do you like it? I’m considering moving from the program office to FOD if I don’t get picked up at this board.Yessir, I'm a PAYCOM here at MSFC
That's awesome! My bedroom walls in high school were COVERED in NASA posters and my dad and I had season passes to KSC. That was my big goal growing up. Not to reiterate my story two posts in a row but my eyesight was the reason I turned down the scholarships I had to Florida Institute of Technology to study Aerospace Engineering. I figured if I couldn't become a pilot or astronaut I didn't want to go down that path (oh the stupidity of youth). That's what sent me down the path of music actually, it was my other passion. Ironic that all these years later I've come full circle. Lasik wasn't an option back then and the only reason I realized the rules had changed was because my wife and I got desperate after I lost my income during the pandemic. I was seeing military recruiters and the Navy recruiters wouldn't let me enlist until I spoke with an OR since I had a college degree. Met with the OR and suddenly found out that dream that died at age 18 was alive again because the rules on LASIK surgery had changed!I work for NASA
