I was wanting to go to that show up at Hill! Maybe I’ll have to do thatWhat are y’all doing this weekend to take your mind off results?
My wife and I are going to the Air Show here in northern Utah at the AF base.

Oh dude I love it. I'm the "voice" of Huntsville so I talk to the crew on the space station all day. Currently at work and talking with Crew 4 at the moment.Neat, how do you like it? I’m considering moving from the program office to FOD if I don’t get picked up at this board.

That's awesome! My bedroom walls in high school were COVERED in NASA posters and my dad and I had season passes to KSC. That was my big goal growing up. Not to reiterate my story two posts in a row but my eyesight was the reason I turned down the scholarships I had to Florida Institute of Technology to study Aerospace Engineering. I figured if I couldn't become a pilot or astronaut I didn't want to go down that path (oh the stupidity of youth). That's what sent me down the path of music actually, it was my other passion. Ironic that all these years later I've come full circle. Lasik wasn't an option back then and the only reason I realized the rules had changed was because my wife and I got desperate after I lost my income during the pandemic. I was seeing military recruiters and the Navy recruiters wouldn't let me enlist until I spoke with an OR since I had a college degree. Met with the OR and suddenly found out that dream that died at age 18 was alive again because the rules on LASIK surgery had changed!
You gotta go with the Sony over ears. Elite noise cancellationRIP to my headphones this morning.
Y'all got any good recommendations? Would prefer ANC, over ear, and the option to use it as a wired set in addition to Bluetooth.

All heroes don't wear capes!hey....word of advice for all of you engineers here...once you get selected and all that....before going to OCS....DO NOT QUIT YOUR JOB....go on military leave instead. part of my benefits pack (unbeknownst to me) was that I am entitled to keep getting paid during me first year as an officer, with no obligations afterwards (meaning I could quit and I don't owe my company anything)
So you are allowed to do mil leave even if you have no intentions of coming back? And your engineering company still pays you while the mil is also paying you?hey....word of advice for all of you engineers here...once you get selected and all that....before going to OCS....DO NOT QUIT YOUR JOB....go on military leave instead. part of my benefits pack (unbeknownst to me) was that I am entitled to keep getting paid during me first year as an officer, with no obligations afterwards (meaning I could quit and I don't owe my company anything)
yes, and yes. of course, be smart about it....don't tell them you ain't coming back of courseSo you are allowed to do mil leave even if you have no intentions of coming back? And your engineering company still pays you while the mil is also paying you?
How does this work exactly?hey....word of advice for all of you engineers here...once you get selected and all that....before going to OCS....DO NOT QUIT YOUR JOB....go on military leave instead. part of my benefits pack (unbeknownst to me) was that I am entitled to keep getting paid during me first year as an officer, with no obligations afterwards (meaning I could quit and I don't owe my company anything)
once you get your FINSEL you should have orders too...at least that's the way it worked for me. talk to your manager then (very awkward I know) and tell them that you got selected and going to OCS, and that you'll be gone for a while (don't tell them how long tho...say "about a year" if they insist)...bla bla....they legally have to hold your position for at least 5 years (safety net in case you attrite too)...they should have their own protocol to follow if they are a big company...which if you're like me and worked for a big defense contractor...they should haveHow does this work exactly?
I don’t think this would apply to me, in my offer letter I signed it was stated I couldn’t have another job.yes, and yes. of course, be smart about it....don't tell them you ain't coming back of course
