That's awesome! My bedroom walls in high school were COVERED in NASA posters and my dad and I had season passes to KSC. That was my big goal growing up. Not to reiterate my story two posts in a row but my eyesight was the reason I turned down the scholarships I had to Florida Institute of Technology to study Aerospace Engineering. I figured if I couldn't become a pilot or astronaut I didn't want to go down that path (oh the stupidity of youth). That's what sent me down the path of music actually, it was my other passion. Ironic that all these years later I've come full circle. Lasik wasn't an option back then and the only reason I realized the rules had changed was because my wife and I got desperate after I lost my income during the pandemic. I was seeing military recruiters and the Navy recruiters wouldn't let me enlist until I spoke with an OR since I had a college degree. Met with the OR and suddenly found out that dream that died at age 18 was alive again because the rules on LASIK surgery had changed!

Oh dude that's a bummer but so happy that time's have changed! Stoked for you to pursue your dreams now ?

RIP to my headphones this morning.
Y'all got any good recommendations? Would prefer ANC, over ear, and the option to use it as a wired set in addition to Bluetooth.

hey....word of advice for all of you engineers here...once you get selected and all that....before going to OCS....DO NOT QUIT YOUR JOB....go on military leave instead. part of my benefits pack (unbeknownst to me) was that I am entitled to keep getting paid during me first year as an officer, with no obligations afterwards (meaning I could quit and I don't owe my company anything)

So you are allowed to do mil leave even if you have no intentions of coming back? And your engineering company still pays you while the mil is also paying you?

My degree isn’t necessarily a stem degree, but my goal is to get a masters in aeronautical engineering. Do you guys know of any good programs to get a good base knowledge that would allow me to pursue that without getting a whole new bachelors? Or should I just get a second degree?

once you get your FINSEL you should have orders too...at least that's the way it worked for me. talk to your manager then (very awkward I know) and tell them that you got selected and going to OCS, and that you'll be gone for a while (don't tell them how long tho...say "about a year" if they insist)...bla bla....they legally have to hold your position for at least 5 years (safety net in case you attrite too)...they should have their own protocol to follow if they are a big company...which if you're like me and worked for a big defense contractor...they should have
