25JAN21 PILOT/NFO BOARD

Usually, people aren't selected for both so the likelihood of "I'm sure you'll get it for SNA as well", is probably not an accurate statement.

You can turn down NFO and reapply for the next board for SNA, that's your prerogative. If I were you I'd try to bump the PFAR to an 8. You may have been selected for NFO because the score was higher. I bet he was an OR like several that seemed to submit for NFO without applicants knowledge.
The thing is that the entire application is supposed to be complete and then the applicant signs it, there should be no changes to the application after it is signed. If the issue was pushed the OR could get in trouble, especially if there was an email trail of the applicant telling the OR that they only wanted to apply to SNA.

I was just about to ask you about that, what the recourse was for supposed inaccuracies/misrepresentations in a signed application.

People already have SNA results so that's probably a bold-faced lie.
I don't think he lied about it not being reviewed as he didnt promise they were going to or anything like that. Just that it wasnt "reviewed." NFO was a ProRec-Y so I have settled with the notion that itll be my designator.

Y'all my stomach hurts.

I really want SNA, been working so freaking hard for this moment to apply. Getting tutoring, retaking the test, again, I've been at this for 2 years to get my package in. My last recruiter was thorough, precise and had clear communication with me and I'm holding everything in that I can right now not to drive down to the office right now.

If you will not be happy being an NFO for the next 6 years that do not accept the spot, decline, now like @Metromedic said it could look bad, but in your reconsideration statement you need to talk about how that you did not submit for SNFO and that you were surprised when it said you were picked for SNFO and SNA is the only thing you applied for.

Ah I see, that sounds normal, you were probably selected for NFO and weren't seen for SNA.

I was just about to ask you about that, what the recourse was for supposed inaccuracies/misrepresentations in a signed application.

This is the problem with having OR's that aren't CPO's or officers work on officer applications, they feel pressure and do things they shouldn't (guessing the OR was E-6 or below) it was rare for anything like this to happen before so not too sure on the recourse except apply again and put down what happened, who cares if you call out the OR for doing a shitty job as he knows the rules and should have followed them.

If the OR gives a big push-back then maybe the applicant mentions it to their parents, and maybe those parents don't like what is happening, and then maybe those parents contact their congressman/woman and then maybe the OR can explain in a congressional investigation how he didn't follow the rules. Just maybe I have seen something like this happen before........

At least your recruiters told you. I understand my recruiters approach with not telling me until
the official results are out, but geez it has me stressing and overthinking. He called me about it and I don’t know if he was hinting that I got selected or didn’t get selected. He wouldn’t tell me anything ?. I even tried to milk out anything I could find out and his response was “I can’t tell you that”. Lol my recruiters pretty cool though.

yep, been through a few of them mostly as I was in the room when things were said. one was directed at me and that didn't go anywhere as I documented everything so they could see everything was by the book of course the sad thing is if the applicant or the parents had talked to me about the concern it would have been handled, hell it wasn't even my fault it was MEPS dragging their feet.

I called the office my recruiter works at and got transferred to his extension, he sounded nervous when he heard my voice & apologized for not answering my call this morning or returning my text messages from December & from today ( I swear I try my best not to be annoying, I rarely reach out. I only call/text for important things regarding testing, package prep, just straight business and even then I'll wait 3-5 days for a response before "double texting" ) Anyways, I asked my OR if he could access the unofficial results and he said he already looked at them this morning and that I made NFO but there was an empty space for SNA.

It was an awkward moment as I told him "That's great news but I didn't apply for NFO, never mentioned it, I thought we put in a package for SNA only"

He was silent then replied "Well it's already been submitted & if you got Pro-Rec Y for NFO I'm sure you'll get it for SNA as well, just wait for official results to be out"

I know I'm slightly getting ahead of myself since I don't completely have a Pro-Rec N for SNA but I fear that the fact that my package was submitted for both designators reduces my chances for SNA.

I don't know how to feel right now... not to look down on any positions but I do not want NFO, I don't have an interest in it and I thought I had made it clear that I wanted to submit as SNA only.

What makes me sound uneasy about this whole thing is that he sounded really nervous talking to me over the phone, trying to be really nice, I'm wondering if he even put me down for SNA...... I do recall reading my package before it was submitted and there was a section where recruiters can add in information about an applicant, he allowed me to read what was written about me and I recall him writing down that I'd be an excellent "Naval Flight Officer"

I clearly remember politely asking him to fix that error before submitting my packet and reminding him that I was going for SNA...

Is there a way for me to check if he even put me down me for SNA? If I deny NFO for this board can I reapply SNA-only next board?
This was the same thing for me today with my recruiter. He even said he would look into it, because he wanted to cover his “ass”. So unsure of what happened, but he seemed a bit freaked out about it..
