It’s not as easy as it sounds. He was right place right time. Especially with ISPP coming out. That is a big game changer
Yeah but I mean - I technically don’t qualify for ISPP.

I had to ask for a policy exception, and even when I did I didn’t really get a straight answer.

Like I said. Unicorn. Your experience (especially as undes ) is rare. It really is going to depend on that chain of command. No two are alike

I still feel like I did the right thing but I have my moments sometimes when things get even more delayed in this route haha. I guess we’ll find out in a month and a half or so! If I get picked up this round then I’ll know this was a good idea even if I have to wait quite a while for OCS.

As a distraction from our anxiety, anyone else watching the MLB playoffs? My Rays were eliminated today in an insane 15 inning game that ended 1-0 so I’m sticking with my childhood team the Cardinals for the rest of the playoffs…hoping they’re not also eliminated tonight hahaha

I’m a white sox fan and they had a shit year but I live in Washington state so pulling hard for the mariners. The comeback they had to day to eliminate the jays was incredible

“Everything is waiverable”

Pretty much three words I heard from every officer I talked to (including the two-star).

Turns out when you demonstrate your value they’re willing to do what it takes to get you where you need to be, and once you’re on the inside it’s a lot easier for you to maneuver around.

I will say I feel pretty lucky. I didn’t expect half the stuff in my package to be the way it did but I know I have a leg up doing it this way.
Up until a few years before COVID almost nothing was waiverable in regards to age, OAR, and GPA. There were people who applied just under the age limit that due to board times moving would not be able to grad by the age limit and were turned away.

You never know when something that is waiverable will become not waiverable and something that isn't waiverable will become waiverable.

Take advantage of the opportunites that are presented now but don't count on those opportunities being available again.

Hey buddy! I am also a huge rays fan. Beyond devasted. When will we get our WS ring!? Offense has been nonexistent lately so I'm not surprised.

as a former enlisted and undesignated who made his way to becoming an officer...I HIGHLY discourage enlisting @

Everyones experiences are different - not sure how your path looked.

I certainly wouldn’t be in the position I’m in if I didn’t enlist.

You are correct experiences are different.

My point is that things that are waiverable today may not be tomorrow so when a person has an opportunity to take advantage of a waiver do it, because unlike what you have been told not everything is waiverable,

There are many who have accounts on this forum that did not get a chance to go to OCS because they tried and were not granted a waiver.

FYI, waivers to go to board are almost rubber stamped approved, it is the board that will ultimately decide to accept a waiver or not.

yeah i've heard that sentiment before. it's more the delays and the pilot pipeline issues that are making me ponder the other way in; i just can't shake the idea of waiting two years for another go 'round only to be told "sorry, no dice". Id rather do something with aviation than not at all imo.

but im curious, what's your reasoning specifically against it if you don't mind sharing?
Right now, you only have one barrier to face which is the board. Once you enlist, you have many barriers to face and overcome. Are you fully qualified at your job? How are your evaluations ( this is a big one)? What is the command policy for submitting( how early can you submit in your first command)? Does your CoC care enough for the submission to help you in the process ( they should)? Are you willing to wait until you fourth year in to submit? Also, you can get in trouble and learn bad habits from others that will or can warp your mind ( i don’t know but it happens)

Many other things that I can think of and have seen. Honestly, I believe the process is harder for enlisted than coming off the streets.

okay, i had a rough idea about that stuff but nothing concrete (obviously lol); like i said before i guess it's just those second time around jitters about if they'll take me and when i'll actually get back there.
