I doubt they're worthless. At least for AD folks. Maybe for those on the outside.
Still worthless for AD. They don’t read those foreal. I mean it ain’t hard to get someone to write pleasant things about you after a 10 minute convo with them. I mean maybe if you get the President to write about you

They’re worthless when they’re not written correctly. Like Evals.

We all know AD Evals are bullshit, but the difference between a good eval and a bad one are specific words written in.

Correct they don’t read them, they look for the code.

You are not wrong, that was the point made by board members a few times.

It depends on the designator, it also depends if they have seen you perform over time. In non aviation designators, especially IWC and Supply, a well written recommendation by a person that has seen you perform for say 6 months or longer can be a positive thing. I have seen several though who had average recommendations, evals consistently P or MP who were selected, but they had very high GPA's.

Aviation is all about the chances of making it through the pipeline, a person can be the hardest worker and best leader but if the scores say the odds of making it through the pipeline are not good then it will be no selection.

Well sure but you also need to take RSCA into effect.

You could have a P or MP but a higher point rating than the RSCA or Summary group average. Obviously EP always helps.

They don't dig that far into it, if it was a CPO board I am sure they would.

You must remember that most designators take only a short amount of time for each application, IWC, Supply and Supply are the ones that would take the most time, Supply generally has the reputation of being the most brutal board over the years.

With all the talk about the status of the board and the delays for current SNA/SNFO selects going to OCS, what effect do you guys think this will have on BDCP selection?

Who knows man. They're only selecting 50 people between all communities per the instruction so its a competitive program to begin with. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that our applications will be looked at a little differently than the others for that reason. That being said they are looking to fill that 50 person requirement and since our time to graduate is longer than usual for most applicants our time to OCS probably doesn't matter as much to the current situation. If I got picked up I wouldn't be looking at OCS until probably winter of 2025 personally.

Anything that doesn’t stand out has been the consensus I’ve seen across this forum
