Above is a screenshot from a conversation I had with one of my references who is a Cpt. He stated the results should come out at the same time regardless of the board being pushed back a week. I know we still don’t know when that will be, but thought it would provide some piece of mind.
To be honest, seems like he's just making friendly conversation. If this is where everyone's been getting their info, it's no wonder we get crazy ass rumors of "I know a capt that said..." ?

is there anyone on this forum that if selected would have to consider accepting or not? Curious if you all have been considering quality of life and things of that nature throughout this process

I'd def be giving up QoL but a military career and experience is something money can't buy. Though a serious question to think about is "is your childhood dream still your dream today? Does it align with your future plans and current goals?"

So I did consider it already, and at the end of the day, I decided that this is something I always wanted and something I don't want to think "what if" about. As of right now, I'm not certain what else I would do with my life besides slaving away at an office job.

I'd say its safe to assume that most here have wanted this probably their whole life and would accept in a heartbeat. That being said for me it would be a tough conversation with my wife for sure. Currently she's all on board with this but its not our reality until I get notified that I've been accepted. She lived the navy girlfriend/fiance life with me while I was enlisted but since then things have changed. We're married, own our home, and have a kid together. I also wanted nothing more than to get out when I did but obviously feelings change over time, and the opportunity to fly the aircraft I used to work on doesn't come along every day. I'm 99% sure I would accept the offer, but it wouldn't be without any thought before signing the dotted line.

I understand the concern entirely. Make sure that you're considering things IN PERSEPCTIVE. It is super easy to get lost in the downsides of being an SNA or SNFO fi you're only thinking about those things alone. For me, I have a comfortable desk job with fantastic leadership, never micromanaged, my own schedule - an ideal job a lot of people would want. But I know me, I want an adventure and I know 100% I will trade this comfort for the adventure. I will always wonder "what if" if I never go through with what my gut is telling me I need to pursue.
I think about it like this: when I'm 90 years old and I'm on my deathbed, what will I have to look back on? A comfortable but boring office job while yearning for the sky? Or will I have a smile from ear to ear because I had an adventure of my lifetime flying around, seeing places, and making memories with people who share my passion? It's the latter for me, 1000%. Quality of life is high when you have a feeling of purpose and meaning, it's not necessarily comfort.
If you prefer staying comfortable in life, I'd make a spot for someone who's been chasing this dream with their whole heart.

Even though this has been a relatively recent pursuit of mine, I'd have to say that it's a much more appealing career to have than what I'm currently doing. I don't mind my current job, but if I had to pick between babysitting highway construction contractors for most of the week and flying planes for the United States, it would be a no-brainer for me.

That being said, the transition would very obviously be jarring. I know a lot of people are comfortable where they're at and/or are afraid of change, but that hasn't really been the case for me. It's all very subjective, and I think it's up to each of us to figure out if this is something we really want or if it's something we're telling ourselves we want.

Yeah, for me my only real potential hangup is military life in general. I love to fly and the opportunity to fly Navy aircraft sounds fantastic, but I’ve always been big on individual freedoms that seem to get traded away as part of serving; living where you want, switching jobs if you please, time with family, that sort of thing. If selected, I’m 99% sure the temptation will be too great to turn down, just something I’ve been thinking about.

Yeah man that's tough for sure. I've lived that life and it's not for everyone. It's especially hard once you have a family and kids. Watched a lot of marriages and serious relationships crumble. You're not wrong to have these thoughts and feelings. They're 100% real, healthy, and valid. It's not adventure and excitement every day. There's a lot of long mundane days where you'd give anything to just be home and on the couch. That being said, there's nothing like this lifestyle in the world. It will be the most exciting job you could ever work.
