When its loaded up I dont think it can hover that well and all crews are taught to do run on landings. The other problem with the older Hinds is the two engines were too close to each other and basically had no firewall so when one engine had a catastrophic then No 2 was always going to be on the receiving end. This happened more than once.
The South Africans are building a Superhind MK III which I am going to be shooting in a month or so. The changes are much lighter, more powerful engines, glass cockpit, new armament and weapons systems and composite blades. I think all but the glass cockpit and blades are incorporated onto the current MK III and the MK V will have everything. A few have already been sold to Algeria.
