Applying to Jan board 2013

If I had to make a rough guess from when the board meets and the christmas standdown I would say about March

I was just told by my OR today that the board was going to get the SNA slots out first and try to get those people in to OCS as early as Jan 6 or Jan 27. Just a heads up for everyone. Anyone else heard about this?

They have already been filling those spots, and they only have about 50 per class, realistically it is nearly impossible for someone to get selected in the December board and then to OCS that quick, the people going Jan 6th would need to have orders in hand before Christmas, and trying to get investigations opened on a person selected in December to go to OCS by the end of January would be hard as well, for the most part just look and see when the July selects are getting OCS dates then add a month or two.

I heard the same from my OR. He made it sound like they were going to be having the pilot board convene in the next week or so due to the holiday with OCS dates in January.

Yeah, mine said it was specifically pilots, and that since I put down NFO as well I'd hear later about that should I not be selected for pilot.

However, IIRC my OR said that the board wasn't actually convening early per se, they were just going to get the pilot slots taken care of pretty quickly.

I had been wondering how they were going to get the security clearance stuff taken care of as well. He specifically said they would be pushing out final select letters very quickly. I'd rather go Jan 27th so I don't have to worry about moving immediately after the holidays. Hopefully getting orders and an investigation sorted out would make that more likely.

Also, I had originally marked down 6/1 as my earliest start date (currently in PhD program, quitting if pro-rec) so I wouldn't start OCS in the middle of the semester should the board have been delayed. Apparently that start date doesn't matter anymore, but if I'm pro-rec I don't care!

Man, I really doubt they would send pilots selected at the December board to a January OCS class. Between the pro-rec, the security investigation, and the Final Select letter, I just don't see it getting done in less than a month. Especially considering that most of the pilots picked up in July of this year are going to OCS in Dec/Jan/Feb, no earlier than November. I've been expecting a May/June OCS date, personally.

Yeah, there's no way we're going to go in Jan. Im expecting March at the very earliest. Heck, it took a whole month for my medical to get processed by N3M.

sighted nothing..sank same.
How does it work for applicants who applied for SWO only? Say an applicant is pro rec'd for all three options, are they taking the quota numbers for all three as well?

FS letters come out AFTER everything else is done, when the security info is submitted it takes about 2 weeks, and N3M essentially shuts down for 2 weeks in December and NRC goes to standdown in December as well, almost nothing happens after Thanksgiving until right after New Years.

If you marked 6/1 then unless you write a letter they won't send you earlier

rough timeline, board meets Dec 3rd, list will probably be released afternoon of Dec 7th if lucky, then if security submitted that day expect the all clear on Dec 21st, then expect at least a week for FS letter to be issued, however you have Christmas and New Years and lots of people on leave so add another week so Jan 4th, and NRC stives to have FS letters issued AT LEAST 4 weeks prior to a person going to OCS so if they had open spots you are looking at FEB.

One variable is Dec graduates that are going NUKE/CEC/remainder of BDCP, since they are being paid they become the priority to go the soonest, which means Jan OCS for them.

yes, but that is why they select extras, they know some will drop, and others that are selected for several designators can only take one spot.

I've got an N3M done. Maybe I misunderstood him and the board is convening early so that the security clearances can get done before the FS letter - something was said about "the holidays" as a factor in doing this early - which is what you're saying is the main obstactle. Anyway, this is just wishful thinking and speculation on my part. As I stated previously I'm glad to hear that there is a lot to do, as 1/6 would require me to do a lot on very short notice over/around the holidays.

I'm surprised that only one other person has come on and said they also had this conversation yesterday. It is the kind of big news I thought they'd want to get on here and discuss/spread.

They could really only move it up one week, next week is shot, and as the guys who were pro rec'd on the last many boards can tell you it is often nearly 2 weeks before results come out, even when things moved fast the quickest I ever saw was 2 months after results came out.

Will you have access to the list of pro-recs when the board is done?
